Welcome Clay,

You'll have ups and downs for the next weeks, just read my post. It happens. Just keep in touch and keep reading. We aren't here just for us, we are here for each other.

I wouldn't drink to oblivion, just your normal drinking pattern. Remember NAL is not going to stop you from getting drunk or alcohol poisining nor does it make you stop when you've had too much (trust me). Even on Nal and being a binge drinker, I know that I am a binge drinker and I keep that in check and know my limits. I drink more often because I'm in retraining but I don't keep more in my house than my body can handle. I've been to the point of almost no return without NAL, so on NAL knowing I might be tempted to push the limit to see what happens is a little scary.

Dear All,

Yesterday was a good day. I woke up after feeling good because I keep my units down the night before quite easy. Yesterday I had my weekly appt with my the_rapist and instead of taking my NAL before I went I decided to wait until I got out. Trust me, drinking after is always an option.

I got out of my appointment, got in my car and decided not to take the NAL. I was feeling good yesterday and I knew if I took it the headache would happen, and I'd be loopy the next day and I ask myself did I want to have wine in an hour. The answer was no. I told myself if I wanted to drink I'd have to wait an hour, could I wait? The answer was Yes. I put the pill back in my purse and never thought about it again.

I know my AF was a "fluke or by chance" but I'll take it. I know that I will drink again, maybe even binge. But I didn't white knuckle it, I didn't have to "convince" myself to have one. It just happened.

Since I've been off NAL for the 2nd day, I'm going to find something to do today to get the endorphin rush as suggested in the book, just to see what happens. I'll aim for early in the day just in case I decide to drink tonight.

E

Providence, houtx, bob, Lab, ART, etc~

Okay. I panicked and changed my screen name. ART~ I googled Marge1117 and several things came up. So, its me. I'm whiteroses now. Sorry about that but I do have insurance consequences I cannot inflict on my family. I'll sign off as Mira though.

Hope you don't all think of me as paranoid, even though I think of myself as that. Just been through an evil divorce, etc. Don't need any additional troubles.

Posted this on Read Me Privacy also.

Go April starters. Working on my signature. Also noticed that keeping track of alcohol does help me drink less.

Whiterose -

I understand peoples needs to feel safe and secure here. You need to be able to share your journey without fear.

Whiterose,

Paranoia is generally a good thing IMHO that protects us from folks that want to "get" us. Never reveal personal information. I think it's a good move to change your online presence. I should do the same thing, since my online name is used on many forums, although there are others that use the same name also. Providence has a good online name. He/she can be anyone.

Anyway, I support and embrace your name change. :)

Bob

Thanks everyone. Bob, I don't think you have to worry about your name much. Guess you could spell it backwards or something. I agree that Providence is an excellent name.

Does anyone get a little nervous as we approach the weekend? For the next 3 weekends I have functions on Thurs, Fri, Sat nights. This is when I drink the most.

Well, gotta go clean the kitchen.

Check in with you all later.

I'm on day 9. It's just a normal night when I usually come home and have a couple of drinks and then would dither over whether to have a 3rd or 4th. Tonight after I had half the 3rd I'd lost interest in it. I know it's early in the method for me, but if this is where it's going, I like it.

But that's not my problem mode. It's the weekend. And yes, Whiteroses, I'm apprehensive about the weekend. This weekend I'll be fairly busy with a bunch of people opening up a beach house. Normally a weekend at the beach could be a real disaster, but we have a lot to do, so that will help. Hopefully by the time I have a real beach weekend in June, I'll be able to handle it.

I know we're not supposed to overly worry about cutting back at this point but now that I've made the decision that I don't want to be a mess anymore, I'd really like to avoid it.

And I have to come back into the city on Sunday to my partner's mother staying with us and all going to an event on Monday. That scares me a bit. Especially needing to not be a mess when I get in on Sunday night.

Clay~

The one thing that bothers me about this site is I can't see your post when I respond. But I just scrolled down and saw it!!! So, this is the perfect site.

I think you will do better if you take the NAL before you drink. You will expect to be better. I'm not sure if you binge or drink every night or what, but take the pill. It does help. You might be sleepy or grumpy but if you are with friends, you will be nicer. If its your SO (sig other) or spouse, you will be not so nice. But you won't be mean.

I don't get all the abbreviations here, but I'm trying. Might make some of my own.

Here's to your weekend. Peace be with you.
