As a very pale whiteman, I have noticed through my problem, parts of my face have become redder than years ago.

But particularly on the right side. Its not spider veins or anything.

It started with a patch in front of my right ear and expanded from the age of 28.

Is this due to dilated blood vessels that no longer close properly as i suspect?

I am in my early 30's.

It sometimes feels like mild sunburn.

It lessens when I am off the drink it is sure but is semi-permanent now.

I miss my alabaster skin.

I wonder can it be lasered off? or is it more to due with blood pressure or anything other.

Drink soden-looks arent nice. :D

Hi Blue,

As a fellow very pale white guy, I'd highly recommend that you see a dermatologist about the red patch on your face. I was diagnosed with skin cancer at the ripe old age of 26, and had to have a small patch removed from my neck - so it is definitely possible that the redness may be more serious than you think. If the spot is itchy at all, or even oozes a bit, those are huge red flags.

Gin blossoms and hard drinking have long gone hand-in-hand, and for us fair-skinned individuals, their appearance is amplified. I found that as my drinking got worse through my mid-20's that I would sometimes get a faint red patch between my nose and eye. If I apply a cortizone cream to the area a few times a week, it completely goes away.

Note that any skin treatment I tried was done under the supervision of my dermatologist or Mohs surgeon.

If you have any questions about skin-related stuff, please don't hesitate to ask.

-H

Hi there. I am not a doctor but it sounds like you may have rosacea. It will act up with such triggers as stress, hot/cold weather, certain foods and alcohol. Your dermatologist can prescribe a topical cream for it.
Hang in there.

Hi Blue. Or shall I say- Hi Red?

I had the very same problem with red patches on my face especially my chin! I went to my health practitioner and it turned out to be high blood pressure. She prescribed a low dosage of Lisinopril and it did the trick.

Heavy drinking causes major high blood pressure issues! At least it did for me....

Hope this helps,

Ketchikan1

I went to see one doctor who claimed to be a dermatologist, she turned out to be Polish import who could barely speak english -feckin waste of money.

I'll be seeing a doctor in a few weeks for an ultrasound scan, ill ask him. Hopefully he wont be a foreign import and can communicate properly!!!

I doubt its cancer, on my face. its not a disfiguring redness or anything.

I used to use a whole load of make-up when I was drinking a lot, it was only going to a treatment centre for 3 weeks that I realised it was the alcohol making my face red and inflamed. When I was on vodka my nose would turn red, and be very hot within the first few mouthfuls.

I don't know if you are still drinking, problematically or otherwise but you might find it is a lot better when you drop your intake.

I'm in backwardisation.

All out for the moment due to my government.

Will be interesting too see what that looks like on a chart.

Obviously ill have to resolve this shortly.

Its not cancer, its blood vessels that are not closed correctly I am concerned about the abdomnal discomfort i have however.

Some thread veins can be cauterised with laser treatment, make sure you use a reputable practioner if you do look into this.
