Katie

I am so pleased for you, I haven't had a drink since New Years Day. I might have one today, or a might have one tomorrow but I'm not really sure because it doesn't bother me. Since I was only occasionally a daily drinker, it didn't take very much for me to break the daily habit (which did reappear when TSM made it 'safe' for me to drink every evening!).

I've sat with two bottles of wine, 4 bottles of very nice speciality beers in my house since Christmas and not touched any. I know this is a touchy subject but I too believe Nal and TSM requires a lot of input and effort from the patient. This is why TSM appealed to me, because I like to have input and feel incontrol. It's minimal side effects also were another attraction, especially after my experiences on Baclofen.

Hopefully the more of us that succeed, the more this method can perhaps be accepted and used more widely. I still have friends who out of habit say "Of course you are still off the drink aren't you?", I say "No, I use a technique that allows me to drink and control it and most days I don't drink at all". This usually ends up with the other person becoming very confused indeed.

Congrats Katie! So good to hear good news from people who have been hanging in there for a while. I agree that it is mostly habit after a certain point - I also find myself wanting to be affected by alcohol (tipsy or drunk) but not actually wanting to DRINK, exactly. Oftentimes the idea of putting that drink down my gullet is enough to say nah, I'll feel worse afterwards and it will taste gross ;)
But not always...which is why I'm still plugging along. Happy new year!

Oh Katie! Great hearing from you, as you have obviously been leading your life fully these past months!

Sounds to me that you are ultra-close to declaring yourself "cured." Simply awesome!!!!

Here's to the best New Year ever,

Thanks Everyone!
I'm day 9 and still no desire to drink...not one bit. This evening after a particularly stressfull day at work (I'm training on a new job) I drove by the liquor store on the way home and as a test thought, "well? do you want anything?"... NOTHING...it's very strange.

So onward I go, I won't declare myself cured for a while, just coasting for now to see where it goes.

Hang in there and Nal on!

Oh and Happy New year Everyone!!!

A brand-new year...
to live; to believe; to give; to receive;
to fall in love; to share a smile; to walk an inch; to run a mile;
to dive into sunsets;
to forgive; to forget;
to love where you’re going; to embrace where you’ve been;
to take a deep breath, close your eyes... and begin.

May the new year be filled with love, adventure, and dreams come true.

All the best for 2012

14 days AF and still going strong! I still think about drinking because the habit is still lingering, but I have zero cravings. It's so wierd.

14 days...you are my hero! Wow, I really look forward to that kind of apathy..."zero" cravings sounds great. 8-) Thanks for staying in touch.

Hi KS

Congrats on 14 AF Days! That is soooo awesome. Are you going to remain completely abstinent? Anyway, keep up the good work.

Best,
