Cheers all! I've been super busy with my full-time job and starting my own business so sorry I haven't posted this week...Good things to report for last week's total: 12 units!!!!! However, this was marred by the fact that I was SO TIRED that basically I was falling alseep at a party on Friday night at about oh...9 pm ;) since I don't get the manic energy from booze when on nal, it tends to make me quite sleepy. That combined with actually being tired well...not a great scene for social interaction. I ahve two parties to go to this Friday, I am hoping I can be remotely awake for them lol.
This week hasn't been shaping up as well (I had a hellacious day at work Tuesday and then promptly had six units that night!) but it hasn't be horrible. But I will be heading into the weekend with 11 units already, so obviously it will be higher than last week's. That's something I am trying to accept - some weeks will be higher than others, and that might be ok.

Hi EL

12 units - that is great! I guess the tiring crap job has its benefits?! Turning you into a party pooper is not one of them tho', so I hope you have more energy this week.

Bonne chance
Sticky ;)

Hi Electra. Just popping in to congratulate you on your slow but STEADY progress!!!! I think back 8 months ago and we were both still hot messes!! I finally made the breakthrough I had been hoping for because of my new gig and its demands.... it turns out all I needed to do was excercise some willpower and voila! My craving for alcohol is a kitten compared to the hungry lion it used to be! Being in charge feels damn good!

I know that 2012 is going to be a GREAT year for you!!!

Wishing you all the success in the world,

Ketchikan1

Hey EL!!!

Sounds like your doing great, encouraging for me this morning since I'm struggling. My thirsty brain is kicking in high gear, certainly enjoying myself at night when I get home from work. Definately making the morning and following day a druge. I have to keep reminding myself I'm ok, behind that reminder is a another thought am I really ok?

Enough about me, sorry. I am really encouraged again and wish all the best in your journey!

Zippy Smiles

Hi all, sorry to be so incommunicado, I will catch up with posts this weekend!! Just wanted to say that although this past week was 20.5 units (almost double last week's!) I am still feeling good about alcohol right now. I am drinking more days, but can usually keep it to 2 or fewer drinks (I often have one with great zeal, pour a second, and get about halfway through it before I decide to go to bed instead!). I had a great time last friday at various parties and did get drunk, but on only 8 units (my how time has changed!) and there were no negative consequences other than a bit of fatigue on saturday. Basically, even though I am drinking more days, I am drinking fewer units and more importantly - not THINKING about alcohol that much. I know that I still have the potential to go off the deep end with a binge, which is why I don't feel "cured" yet, but I really think I'm getting there people!!!!

This is such good news, EL. I can testify that your posts have been reflecting a greater sense of ease and confidence/control. You've been at this awhile and have showed such determination. Way to go!

That is such a good read! Esp. knowing the importance of all those moderate evenings that don't turn into binges, that must be very empowering. And you're doing all this, even in the midst of the imperfect job, and it sounds like not much time, and other stresses. Good for you, WTG!

Chrissie :)

Hi El,

Great to hear about your progress. I don't know if you've noticed yourself...? But I see a significant change in your overall pattern--you are reporting that you are drinking less on occasions when you do drink. You've always had AF days so reducing the units when you do drink has been your measurable change...and it's happening!

I hope you are making a little time in your busy schedule to celebrate this FANTASTIC change!!

It's funny, it seems like several people on the board recently have had job or other significant life changes that have helped them make big shifts in their drinking patterns. It's making me think that even if these adjustments in drinking habits initially become possible (or impossible to avoid) because of other life changes, that they become part of a new, healthier behavior around alcohol that's ours to keep.

So inspiring! Keep up the great work,

Deja
