Bob I have been reading your latest posts and I thought it may help on those nights when you take the nal then have a few drinks and can't stand the taste to maybe have something else on hand that is non-alcoholic to switch to and try after a few. Something that you think you might like of course! That way you still have the recovery part and then can have something you don't mind. I am not sure what that might be but I have fuzzy and good stuff around. During the time when I went through different stages of the Sinclair method, I found myself in a situation where I would switch drinks of different kinds quite alot to find something I liked. Sometimes the drinks I had contained alcohol and sometimes they didn't. Just an idea. I did some wild things with water putting in cucumber slices or orange slices and Stevia. Just anything to relieve my boredom at times and not feel like booze was my only option. Of course sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't but nonetheless it gave me a little mission. All the best! :D

Thanks, folks.

Sometimes I feel alone, but of course logically, that emotion is certainly untrue.

Regarding the suggestion, I keep an alternate non-alcoholic beverage with me during my drinking sessions at all times for the past 4 weeks now (Peach Snapple, I love it!).

The Sinclair extinction is certainly occurring. I can feel it. I have never in my life preferred ice tea to anything alcoholic, but that is the case right now! And for the past couple of weeks. I still think this method is actually working besides my deep-seated doubts. There is definitely something tangible occurring.

Thanks for listening to my rantings.

Bob

LOL, Bob just keep trying! What kind of musician are you? What do you play? I play guitar, piano, can do a little harmonica and took lessons in African drumming. I sing mostly though and play piano. My friends make me play for them when I am not in a band which is the current situation. I tend to be a bit private about it all because I come from a musical family of perfectionists. Anyway good wishes and keep up the snapple thing! :D

Thanks for the encouragement! I can't seem to find the post where I said I was a musician, although I must have said something, or else how would you know? Anyway, I play guitar. I enjoy playing for my own amusement and never play in public, unless its just rhythm, which is easy. My closer friends tell me I like to make noise, more than soothing music and they are correct. I enjoy making oddball sounds from my electric guitar. It's fun, but unfortunately it scares the cat and irritates the wife... or was it the other way around? :)

Regarding alcohol:
The last few days have been a combination of hope and dismay.

Dismay, because my alcohol intake is going up. Hope because my first beer of the day always tastes terrible every time now. I have to wait to have the second or even third one before it actually tastes good. Also, I have gotten into the habit of dumping what is left when I've had enough, thus the odd fractions in my signature, lately.

Another month and I hope things will start to change dramatically, and if not I'll wait another month or two.

Bob

Bob,

The fact that you and some others here are ever able to not finish a beer or glass is amazing to me. The only time I've been able to do that is when I wake up with a hangover from passing out before I was able to finish! I also have this thing about not "wasting" a drink. When I see people on TV shows take a few sips, then walk away - it makes be CRAZY! The day I can do that will be the day I'm convinced I've been cured. So, I'll continue to admire you whenever I see fractional numbers in your signature! I wouldn't be too concerned when the consumption level increases - it can be quite a roller coaster ride, with enough ups and downs to make you dizzy. I know you'll make it! :D

KK,

It's interesting that you say that. Each time, I've given up on a drink, it has been when I woke up after dozing for a short while. My prior pre-Nal behavior was to continue drinking and get another until I passed out completely. Now, just a short nap, I wake up with no alcohol desire at all, after which I dump what is left of my drink.

I'll keep an eye on any such occasion where I'm in an active drinking session (continuing to be awake), where I decide to stop and dump the rest. I don't have any clear memories of having attained that yet. I also have a "thing" for not wasting a drink.

Thanks for the encouragement! We all will make it if we keep with the program. You will too.

Bob

Wow.

I thought yesterday was going to be one of those easy-going days with low alcohol consumption. Instead, it was an easy-going day with nine (yes 9!) beers consumed. It's been years since I consumed that mush beer. Although, pre-Aversion Therapy, I definitely was consuming more units than that as recently as 8 months ago.

My cravings are swinging back and forth day-to-day in an unpredictable manner. I don't understand what is happening. But, I will continue the Nal one hour before and drink awaiting the cure.

Bob

That used to happen to SpringerRider a lot then it stopped. I believe there are others as well. Hang in there.
