Don't get Naltrexone from your Doctor unless you have no other choice. Order it from one of the online pharmacies and keep your privacy.

The cost of the medication is extremely small in comparison to what it will cost you to have Alcohol Dependency on your medical record. At a minimum, you will not be able to get life insurance for 3-5 years, if ever. You could also face higher medical insurance rates and potential discrimination.

I unfortunately went the route of getting a prescription because I was one of the first in this group to start TSM -- I didn't know any better and just wanted to get started. My previously life insurance carrier dropped me and now I can't get another carrier to insure me for any price.

The problem with a medical record is the information follows you for life, unlike your driving record or a credit report. Think twice before getting yourself branded as an addict in records that aren't as private as you might think.

thanks for sharing your story about this issue. i am amazed at how many folks here go for the above board get a script from your doc plan. i would much rather not have an addiction diagnosis in my medical history if i could help it.

Believe me, I didn't want to talk to my doctor about this. But I'm in Canada. On-line pharmacies here require a prescription and US on-line pharmacies won't ship to Canada, nor will alldaychemist. On the bright side, we have universal medical insurance, they can't kick me off!

True, most online pharmacies will not ship to Canada because Canadian customs is ultra vigilant and will stop/return the shipment.

I went to my doctor and told him I wanted to stop drinking using Naltrexone, I didn't mention TSM, he thinks I am taking 50mg daily, this has the advantage of ensuring a good supply as I am not using 1/4 of that amount.

I think it normally takes 7-10 days or so to get it. I order a batch of 120 pills a time. So far I've had no problem with the customs etc (I live in the UK).

It's currently priced at USD 226 (plus free p&p) for 120 pills. Their product is generic Nodict. I haven't tried any other brands, so I can't compare. But I think this one works fine for me (as well as any others could).
