Good post Tiller, I am loathe to think I the friends that have distanced themselves from me due to my alcoholism. The goods news is most were very supportive of me trying TSM and grateful to have me back since I've declared RC. You are early on, hang in there, eventually you won't be having those night caps!

hi tiller.

sounds like you are on your way. great job with keeping it under control at the wedding! things are getting slowly better i feel for me. sometimes i'm unsure whether i'm progressing but then i think back to how many nights i blacked out before tsm and how many now (none), how many drinks i was sneaking before tsm (ok, still sneaking a couple, but not as many;0), and overall units are down. i still have the desire to drink every day though and i'm hoping that will diminish soon. sorry to talk about me, but i guess i'm just trying to say that the process can be a subtle one- be in for the long haul and you will get there.

nal on!

Been trudging along for the past few weeks. Still drinking too much, especially on Monday and Tuesday nights when the work stress seems to hit me most. I poured out the rest of my bourbon this morning because it's too easy to drink past the Nal. Did 8 units of the stuff last night. Going to try to stick with beer and wine, though I find I have less taste for them than before.

The Nal definately changes my response. More clear headed as I drink. But I still seem to be chasing that beast.

Cravings are the problem. I don't have them until the evening, but they always show up. I try to divert them by doing stuff with my kids or working out, but eventually I have to give in. So I have to try to moderate better.

I'm going to try l-glutamine for the cravings. Some people report good results and the stuff seems, at worst, harmless.

The good news is that I am actively doing things -- TSM most of all -- to control my drinking. That's a change from the past. The bad news is I hate the continued, lower level of self-destruction that I have to get through to see the other side. But I'm trying to believe!

Tiller, it's still quite early for you and totally normal to have cravings. If you have cravings, drink (with the nal of course). Don't try and white-knuckle it too much. Of course, if you feel like you could have an AF day without too much difficulty, go for it, but don't beat yourself up for still wanting to drink right now. Honestly, there will be a stretch of time where you will continue to "chase the beast" even though drinking isn't as fun as it used to be. Eventually your brain will be rewired though, and then your behaviour will (slowly) start to follow. Nal on and don't despair!!

Gosh, I know EXACTLY what you mean about "chasing the beast..."

My endorphine-seking brain certainly is.

To no avail! I am a normal tipsy. Not experiencing the usual rocket-ride bound for oblivion that I am accustomed to. How 'bout it????

This is the weirdest sensation.....

How are you doing, Tiller?????????

Wondering,

Ketchikan1

Hang in there! We are at about the same place. Work stress is horrible for me. It's even worse when I am having to deal with people and I am so damned hungover. Sundays are bad for me, I dread the weeks coming. I don't like that I am acting like that.

I am finding my stress level isn't so bad when I have been drinking less for days. I am not so worried I am missing it.
