I'm still on my first week of the program. My initial dose was 1/2 pill on two occasions, then one pill a couple of days later. I tolerated it pretty good - some sleeplessness / anxiety, but not too severe.

Yesterday I took a pill at 4:00 and began drinking at 6:00 - only 3 units, which is fantastic! That night however I woke up at 2:30 AM with chest pains. They eventually subsided after a couple of hours. It scared the heck out of me though, as I thought I was having the "big one" and considered going to ER. Has anyone else experienced this side effect?

I suspect it may be anxiety at drinking less than usual and not being able to drunk-sleep. But I could be wrong. Obviously you should ask your doctor about nal and chest pains.

I did have some discomfort in my chest the first week or so. It was kind of like a cramp feeling, a little scary for sure. It didn't happen often and eventually went away all together.

People here at the Forum say each one of us have a different response to Nal. I didn't have such disconfort. I felt a few times some agressiveness and a lot of nausea, but that was all.
The safest attitude is talk to your doctor about your reaction, as have been said before.
Good luck! ;)

Not anything I've ever experienced at all. The only side effect I had was the nausea, which wore off after 1-2 weeks or so.

After thinking harder on this, I remember that in my first experiences with Nal (up to the 10th one, I guess) I felt "something" in my stomach, it wasn't a stomachache at all, it was more like the sensation of hunger, pretty soft. It wore off a few experiences later.
Lately I've felt some light tachicardia (when your heart beats faster than usual), but nothing severe. Not scary at all.

These symptoms concern me, of course, but the benefits I have with the Sinclair Method widely compensate them. For example, I had a binge last friday night* in which I consumed six cans of beer -- trust me, that IS a great advance for me -- and on the next day I was healthy enough to ride around the neighborhood on my motorcycle. So good, folks, SO good...

* SIDE NOTE: Come to think of it, I did hear Kate Perry's Last Friday Night on that binge! lol

I had something similar happen to me but within a couple hours of taking it. I kind of wrote it off at the time as probably being digestive or anxiety related. It wasn't anything major though just unusual to me. I haven't experienced it again in the last few days. I have been meaning to have my blood pressure checked because I know it tends to go up when I'm drinking but I'm 35 and of normal weight so I am not too worried.

I had serious bouts of tachycardia where I woke up in the early morning hours fearing the big one. As a result, I've had to cut my dosage in half to 25mg, and that seems to work alright for me.

I've been "Nal"ing for about nine months now, and I'm close to calling "in control." I went from approximately 50-70 units weekly, with no AF days for around ten years, down to less than 21 units a week, with at least 2 AF.

I think that just like with antidepressants, each person needs to find the proper dosage where the side effects balance out with the effectiveness of the treatment.
