Thanks miss ! My s.o. used to drink, a lot, perhaps alcoholically, but managed to get it under control through sheer willpower. He now religiously sticks to three drinks or fewer in one night. He gets massive, three-day hangovers if he doesn't, so it's really a health issue. He does not judge my drinking more than him but does judge the loss of control, even though he also remembers and understands it. He really doesn't need TSM or nal, though, is what I'm saying. He is generally very supportive of me and it has been great, but this was just one little speed bump along the road. The first night of the wedding weekend was fine - only 1.5 drinks for me! I'm midway through the second day, made it through brunch and wine tasting with only 2 glasses of wine, but cocktails, dinner, and rugby watching still to come. And the actual wedding tomorrow. EEP! Wish me luck.

Good luck EL

Sorry for my drunken ramble the other day. How pathetic! Mostly life is great thanks to TSM. Wales have just beaten Ireland 22-10. Yay! My Mum is Welsh. She ended up in hospital this week and given the fact that she is 80 it was a bit of a worry. Seems like it wasn't too serious. Our suburb has "adopted" Wales and Mum said if they won this game we might get to meet them.
Go France & England - not sure who I'm rooting for here..
Hope the rest of the weekend goes well for you.

Cheers
Sticky :P

"Drunken Reasoning." ~ElectraLou

That, my dearest, is the oxymoron of oxymoron's.

"Drunken reasoning". Let's all marinate in that statement as if we are willingly basking in a thigh-high kiddie pool of piss and destruction. Same. Damn. Thing.

I am reminded that LOVE has NOTHING to do with any of this.

Gosh, Electra!!!!!!!!!!!! If LOVE could FIX addiction, this website would not exist. Alcoholism would be as mild as a commoner's stubbed toe. It's tough baby. It's cold outside and your life proves it.

Bundle up. And remain buckled up.

The treachery continues.

For just a bit longer.............................

Keep on keeping on kiddo and you are bound to win them all.

Me included,

Ketchikan1

Well, I made it through day 2 of 4 of the wedding weekend with 8 drinks over 14 hours. NOT BAD I think, actually. At no point was I drunk. To be honest, I didn't have a fantastic time as I never truly let loose - was always counting drinking, afraid of drinking too much, etc. But tonight is the official wedding and I think I might let loose a bit more (while still taking a full nal, of course). I'm not worried about being an idiot ; just a horrible hangover tomorrow. But a hangover tomorrow is not as bad as a hangover today would have been.
Thanks for all the support guys!

Congrats, EL, you're doing great. Weddings are a HUGE trigger for me (all that free champagne which I love). The fact that you're going into it being so aware will make a big difference for you. Have a fun time. Oregon is gorgeous, isn't it?

Hi EL, how did the wedding day go?

I'm sorry you felt that you couldn't fully enjoy yourself and let go, I guess part of this whole process is about learning to enjoy ourselves without copious amounts of alcohol. The desire to drink or over drink is being extinguished but we have to work on learning to have fun without being drunk. I guess it just takes time...

Hi El,

I remember your trigger point from a few weeks ago... it was always when you could afford to "let loose a bit more."

You should do so and have a good time. Just make it your goal not to black out. That's always a good achievement if you can dance, sing karaoke and remember getting to bed.

By now you'll be celebrating or nursing a hangover... but you know what - you made it through 3 days of pre-wedding parties and didn't ruin the big day with a hang over... so in my book that's an A+

Andy.

Hi EL

I hope the wedding was fun and you let go enough but not too much.
You & the bf must be very happy with how the French played in the weekend.

Take care
Sticky :P
