Hi NipIt and welcome,

Nausea was a big problem for me too the day after and it was often worse in late afternoon, after a while I realised that I was often hungry and eating helped, so that might be something for you to try.

TSM takes time to work so don't think that just because you are drinking more than you intended to that it's not working, it is. :)

Nal on!

Thank you, Curi.

There's no better feeling than the day after an AF day!! I feel rested, alert, have the whole day ahead of me, ready to tackle everything, and NOT HUNGOVER! Yay! Have a great day, everyone. :D

Hi NipIt!
I am pretty new on here too. So I don't have great words of wisdom like some of the members. But I wanted to say, just hang in there! Keep taking your Nal 1 hour before drinking and don't give up. I have had nights that I feel totally in control on Nal and I have had nights where I drink 2x or 3x times more than I meant to. I am pushing forward though. Good job on the AF day!!! I have yet to have one of those. Baby steps for me...

Nal on!

~Pam

Week 3. I LOVE NAL! I'm at full dose now, and not having any side effects - unless being HUGELY tired where I can barely keep my eyes open is due to Nal? I really need an afternoon nap! But the Nal is definitely doing it's thing. On a typical week, if I have no evening functions (work or otherwise) I try to stay AF, but Friday and Saturday nights are my downfall. This weekend I took 50 mg one hour before starting each night, and kept my units exactly where I wanted them. The first night it was beer (not my fav, but I'll drink it when there is nothing else around). The second night I bought my fav Chardonnay and I couldn't believe how HORRIBLE it tasted - the stuff I love. From what I've read on this site, that's the Nal working. Yay! Thank you, Nal! I kept drinking, but more slowly and didn't finish the whole bottle where in the past I would. Tonight, Sunday, I usually finish whatever is left - I didn't touch it. I'm using willpower, too, but I really think the Nal is working.

Great news nipit! Sometimes when nal works for someone it works miraculously. Some never return to pre-TSM levels. Howerver, just remember that you may have just started a honeymoon period. There may be some days where the wine tastes fine. The day will come when you just won't feel compelled to drink it to excess. Nal-On!

YAY!! It's true that a lot of us have gone through phases where our favourite drinks just taste TERRIBLE. I had all sorts of strange sensations with taste, actually, for the first few weeks on nal. With the alcohol, I kind of suspect that it actually lets us taste the booze without all the wonderful associations of what it DOES and FEELS like....and alcohol is not actually that tasty!!

Good job Nipit! Chardonnay is my weakness too. However, it still tastes ok to me at week 6. It might not be as good as I remember pre-TSM but I will drink it over beer any day.
Sounds like you are breaking down some of your triggers too, like not finishing the wine Sunday. Very cool!
Good luck to you :D

Hi Nip it

It sounds like you are offf to a great start. Well done! Don't be surprised if your units spike after the honeymoon. If you are young this may work quickly for you, but if not buckle up for the roller coaster ride and stay in touch!
I love my wine too.

Cheers
Sticky :P

Week 4 isn't over yet but a couple things of note so far: all week I told myself I would try for an AF Friday (haven't had one of those in years!) and was fine until 5:30 PM when all the usual triggers and self-justification kicked in (it's Friday, I have the open bottle from last weekend which I didn't touch all week, I better drink because that's how this process works, etc.), so I took my Nal and an hour later guzzled two glasses of wine - oh and it tasted just fine (the same bottle that tasted HORRIBLE last Saturday!). Oh well. Maybe ADE kicked in? Anyway, I finished the bottle - and almost panicked thinking what else do I have around here to drink - then said NO I want to stop at two - so instead moved to the sweets - finished a carton of ice cream, opened the Halloween candy (why oh why do I buy it early?!). Yuck, I think I felt worse from all the sweets I gorged on rather than the alcohol, or hangovers the next day!

Now today - my first Board meeting for a non-profit to which I've just been elected director. No one told me they would be serving bloody marys and mimosas! I didn't have nal with me (yes, I will stick one in my purse now), I thought about drinking anyway (everyone is allowed one slip-up aren't they), then I decided NO I won't drink without nal, plus it's early and I want to stay on target at the meeting and I have to drive home afterwards. I did watch carefully how the others who choose to drink barely drank - if I hadn't started TSM I would have been the one drinking the most, and fast. Nal and TSM are so good for me. I've been going down a path of self-destruction with alcohol and TSM is allowing me to change that. Thank you, Nal. Thanks Drs. Sinclair and Eskapa.

Tonight husband and I are going out for dinner with friends. I'll take my nal one hour before and try to stick to 2 units.

What is it about this alcohol that we love so much. My units have been down this week and AF days up, but then tonight once I start I want to keep going, even though nal is in me and I feel it wants me to stop or slow down. But I want to keep up that happy feeling fueled by more alky. Ugh. I know it's wrong, but here I go pouring one more. I guess this is why we're on nal doing the TSM. Thank goodness for both.

Love to all my nal & tsm fellow followers.
