Don't worry about that spike...those numbers will be going down again in no time! Keep up the positive attitude and you will get there!

Week 20
45/1AF
Not my best week for sure. Dealing with a lot of painful emotional baggage at the moment and have had a few days close to blackout (9 drinks). I do feel like I am getting close to turning a corner though, my taste/craving for booze is definitely changing.

I get the sense that for a lot of people, the extinction burst is not just something that happens during TSM but is acutally necessary and crucial to the process. It's like we need to find out for ourselves that drinking to blackout on nal isn't worth it - we can't just intellectually know it.
Hang in there - the corner's right...uh...around the corner? ;)

Yes EL, I too think it's crucial to the process. My brain is freaking out looking for it's 'high'. I think that drinking through the Nal during major triggers is all about the extinction burst. Well, at least I hope it is. Anyway, onward I go.

Peace
K

Week 22

25/0
Things are changing...the past two evenings I had 2...just 2 cider per evening without another thought to have more. This process works!
Up, down, up, down, but over all my drinking is declining, my taste is changing, the desire is dulling. I have trouble deciding what I want to drink...nothing screams out "drink me!".
I think I'm about half way or better, and I am really looking forward to see what the next 22 weeks bring. I'm not going to try to push for AF days anymore, I seem to drink more on the days I think I'm going to try be AF...funny things are going on inside this old noggin...just going to coast for a bit and see what happens...2 ciders per evening 2 days in a row without even thinking about it...that freaking amazes me!

so exciting! I'm so happy for you. I know what you mean about nothing seeming like it would be tasty....for the first time in a long time, I've found myself trying "girly" drinks because of the taste, without worrying about how to pack the most alcohol possible in one glass/cocktail lol!

Katie, I am going through exactly what you are at present in regards to the "What do I drink?" question. NOTHING tantalizes me. I am on my third AF day, my 11th this month.

Also, when I started TSM 30 weeks ago it was all about white wine. Now, the thought of drinking wine repulses me. So then I "graduated" to beer and Jaeger. I still have a huge bottle of Jaeger in my freezer with absolutely NO DESIRE to drink a drop.

Great progress!!!

God Bless Dr. David Sinclair,

Ketchikan1

Hi Katie, you're making great progress. Even in the week you had a spike you have still only consumed a third of your pre TSM amount. In addition, there is good evidence of re wiring going on inside your "old noggin'". Unfortunately, dredging up emotional baggage and extinguishing triggers is a part of the process, albeit painful. Your positive attitude is fantastic, you'll definitely get there, keep up the good work!
