Hi everyone

Only just managed to sneak in under 30 units this week. My units are mostly high when I do drink. They are definitley lower if I drink beer like last night, but it's not my favourite, especially in the middle of winter. I have thought of mixing wine with soda or drinking a glass of water between wines so I'm less thirsty. Will try that this week.

I have enjoyed this week. Hubby & I have been working together well. I'm taking my eldest son to the last Harry Potter movie tonight.

2 weeks of school holidays start tomorrow. Having just been away, we will be sticking close to home and trying not to spend too much!

Hi Sticky, hope you like Harry Potter and survive the (dreaded) school holidays. Good to hear your relaxed tone. Don't try to rush things when your'e getting close to RC. I'm off to Thailand next Thursday, can't wait to get some sun and warmth and swim and relax... I will try to be like you and post from there. Hope you have a great few weeks if i don't log in before I get back.

And I hear you on beer - if I could switch to beer I'd rarely get drunk, but I just don't like it that much, and after one or two I get bloated and gross feeling !

Good for you for staying under 30 Sticky. I hear you on the wine thing, I LOVE wine! Volumes of it!

Since starting TSM I make sure I mix up my drinks during the week, instead of always choosing wine, my drink of choice, I drink beer (yuck), cider, mixed drinks, etc. So far this seems to be working for me, I am feeding my brain booze via TSM, but curbing my wine intake, which I hope at the end of all of this will STOP my love for the fermented grape.

Nal-on Sticky, we WILL get there!

Hi everyone

I had a similar week to last week - just under 30 units again. Am still drinking too much most times I drink. I tried the water between drinks, but need to up the water and slow down the drinking. No awful behaviour though.

After heaps of rain it was great to see my youngest play in a soccer tournament last weekend and get a couple of practices in. The first week of the school holidays is going well. Only felt fed up with the kids once!

Some good friends are over from Sydney and it was good to go out to dinner with them and have a few drinks. They are very supportive.

I hope you're all doing well.

Hi everyone

I am pleased to report I only had 20 units this week. With 3AF, that meant a couple of nights of only 3.5 drinks. At times I have been frustrated with how long TSM is taking to work for me, but I need to remember I am 50 & even though I have had 18 years trying not to drink, this is not going to happen overnight. I still have to remind myself when I drink just how lucky I am to be able to drink again, and that my husband & family are mostly supportive. (Apart from my sister-in-law, who has gone back to barely speaking to me- not sure if it's because I'm drinking again or because I've had a face lift!!)

Anyway, life is good. The school holidays have gone well despite trying not to spend too much after our trip to Thailand. Went indoor skiing last night which the boys and my friend's kids have been looking forward to. Had 2 extra boys stay the night. A weekend of soccer and ice skating for the kids is coming up and for the forecast is good. There have been so many soccer cancellations due to weather & grounds being closed this season it's not funny.

I hope you are all well out there in TSM land.

Hi Sticky, glad to hear you got your units down last week but I'm sorry your SIL isn't talking to you.

I wanted to pop in and thank you for your support and to tell you that I am envious of your courage to have a facelift! I'd love to do that too. Are you happy with the result?

A possible tip to lower your drinking might be to eat something before you start, even if it means spoiling your appetite for dinner, I've been experimenting with that the last few days and it confirms what I already knew from my pre Nal drinking days: hunger definitely makes me drink more. In fact, when I stopped drinking altogether, eating was what got me through cravings, anything at all, but it's best to avoid something too salty as you will get thirsty, which kind of defets the purpose :roll: :lol: but something like a ham sandwich or an ice cream used to do the trick for me, it might work for you too.

Keep up the great work!

Hi all

Not such a good week as last week units wise or AF days wise. 2AF days is not enough for me - 3 or 4 is OK. Also on Tues night I drank without taking nal. I was planning to be AF. Hubby went out unexpectedly and I drank the half inch remaining in his beer at 8pm. It gave me the taste for more. It seemed too late to take a nal. There was a glass of wine left in a bottle in the pantry. Then I got more wine from hubby's poorly hidden stash in the car! Only about 6 units, but it would have been more if hubby and his friend hadn't come home around 10.30. Felt tired yesterday thanks to a bad cold/cough and night time cold medicine as well.

Still it could be a lot worse. I certainly don't plan on not taking nal as I do believe it's working its magic slowly but surely. After 8 months I am consistently under 30 NZ units and sometimes under 20. There hasn't been any bag lady/neglectant mother behaviour for a few months and very little bad behaviour since starting TSM. My interest in alcohol is waning. My ability to feel relaxed rather than nervous about upcoming social situations is increasing given I am able to drink.

Boys are back at school so it's back to the usual routine. I did a dance class at the gym for the first time since the face lift and enjoyed that. Saw a couple of film festival movies last week. Soccer tournaments 2 weekends in a row for my youngest. Last week they got a trophy.

I hope everyone is doing well.
