I still think it's easier manipulating a physician to some degree. Lead them to the answer you want them to give you. And never bring a book or internet page print; they dismiss that immediately, because remember: they are smarter and better than you.
The "gee, doc, I sure wish there were some drug that could take the pleasure of drinking away from me! Not one that would make me sick, I can't stand that!" This limits them to Campral and Naltrexone. If they suggest Campral, ask them how long has it been out on the market. Express concern that it is too new and you wish there was something else out there. Naltrexone comes as the next suggestion. Express slight concern, "how long has it been in use, uh-huh, yeah, OK, alright I'll try that". Then take the script and use TSM. You go back to the doc and say it's working quite well, but don't say exactly how you're taking it. You'll get months of refills from then on without hardly any further discussion.
Just a suggestion. Tried and true, BTW.
