Hi all,

I normally drink 1 - 2 beers a day. Problem is when I go past that I go for broke, maybe once a week or more.

This summer I'm working in a small town and without much stress have been drinking much less, I haven't gotten drunk in 6 weeks. Taking a Nex for 1 beer seemed foolish, but everytime I new there was a chance of getting in trouble I'd take a Nex. The first time I found I had more control and I stopped drinking when everyone else did. The second time.. I went for broke with no reservation. Luckily I didn't do anything I'd regret and didn't have black outs (I understand that this may be due in part to the Nex) but I did miss work, which makes me feel terrible.

Maybe I was silly thinking I could not take Nex on the 1 beer days, I thought that maybe the one beer wasn't the bad behaviour.. but the 2+ was.

I was really expecting to not feel that "glow" as people are calling it after 2 beers.. but I do.. more like sitting at the top of a rollercoaster than a glow.

I've only been talking the Nex for about 3 weeks, and in that time have only taken 4 pills.

I guess the one beer triggers are the same as the 10 - 20 beer triggers.. right?

I should start again and chart my progress. Right now I feel like I could avoid alcohol for months!!

It just seems it's harder to chart ones progress and see real changes when one is not a daily over drinker.

I'll be in touch!

Welcome BoniR, One beer or 12 it doesn't matter the formula is the same Nal+Al=regained control. You are trying to block the endorphin release and reinforcement from alcohol. You can get this endorphin release from the many associations you've created with alcohol. The smell of alcohol, the sight of the store where you buy your AL or even the chair in your house where you drink. All of the these stimuli can become paired with alcohol and elicit the same response as the alcohol itself. Each time you drink you want to block that association. Best of luck.

Hi St.V.
I'm sure you're right. I'm thinking that will really be key when I move back home after the summer. That's where I get into the most trouble.
I was silly to think I could have a beer without.
I was just looking over your posts. Congratulations!!! and Happy 4th!!!
