When I was prescribed Naltroxene which I understand is the generic drug, my pharmacy didn't have it and I was give Revia the non generic drug - which was very expensive by the way. Does it make any difference? I used it for the first time last night - felt a little lightheaded and spaced. I had 4 glasses of wine and felt like I had only had 1/2 glass. Felt anxious when I went to bed and had to settle myself down. However I had a good sleep and felt great this morning. Is this a good first try?

Hi Kathy,

I have been on the Revia pill since day 1 and luckily the expense is covered in my medical plan. That sounds about right for a first day experience. I find that I am far more clear headed when drinking on the drug. All the best.

Sorry, but I didn't get it yet. What do you guys mean by saying "far more clear headed when drinking on the drug (Revia)"?

Do you mean you feel more conscious or reasonable?

I ask it 'cause here in Brazil we only have ReVia. I don't know how, but a local lab managed to legally acquire the monopoly to distribute the medicine in this country. :(

Revia and Nal are exactly the same, just a question of generic drug or not and, for some, the cost. If you don't want to pay for ReVia, you can always order the generic online - many people here have had success with River Pharmacy located (I think) in India.
As for your first experience...sounds about right. People have different reactions but lightheadedness is common, as is nausea and more clarity.

Sorry, but I'm still trying to figure it out. So, I get "less drunk" (some symptoms of the binge become lighter, like confusion) when using ReVia?
If it's so, then I can only assume that the original medicine is indeed better!
