Hmmm....I'm not sure that the throwing up has happened before 4 drinks (and sometimes it has been a bit later) but the nausea, when it happens (again, not every time I take the nal and drink does this happen) is usually around drink 3. It doesn't peak for another drink. And I could probably hold back from vomiting and wait for it to pass - it is not an overwhelming need to vomit. But it certainly feels gross.
Again, I still plan on sticking withTSM and drinking less, despite this unpleasant side effect. I guess I just wanted to make sure it was not a sign of something more serious. I suspect my doctor will just tell me it is the alcohol making me vomit, but I think I know my own body well enough to know that's not the whole story, at the very least.
Thanks SV for your input~!

Well, despite my strange (and somewhat worrying) vomiting problem with the nal sometimes, this was actually a good week in terms of units: 21.5. The lowest week in a while I think. And more importantly, I was never out of control during the week. There was a sliver of a chance that I was going to make the bad choice to stay out late and keep drinking Friday night even though I felt sick, but I didn't (was able to use LOGIC!). However, I have felt pretty crappy all week when drinking on nal. Part of this is this sinus infection I'm fighting off, I'm sure, but part of it is definitely the nal/al. As I mentioned before, my boyfriend is leaving for two months on Wednesday, and I'm a little worried about going overboard while he's away. I want to focus on having MAINLY AF days while he's away - so maybe drinking 1-2, possibly 3 times a week max. Without any bingeing. That's the goal, anyways. Obviously, 4th of July weekend not an auspicious start to this lol!
Thanks guys for cheering me up last week when I had a couple of incidents; I feel much more positive this week even with the vomiting issue ;)

Hi Lou,

Thank you for your support in my PR. I suspect that this vomiting/feeling nauseous is your body telling you you've had enough. If I understood you correctly it starts around the 4th drink, but is it any 4 drinks? in you post you mentioned Bourbon after wine, does it also happen if you drink just wine or just Bourbon and not mix your drinks? Have you ever heard the expression "Never mix the grape and the grain" That little worry asside, you seem to be doing really well on TSM :)

Hi EL

Sorry to hear about your nausea & vomiting. I don't have any advice sorry - I don't think I've thrown up since being on nal. Maybe once. I think your reduction in units is really encouraging though. I hope you don't miss your bf too much! Have a good Independence Day weekend. We don't celebrate it in NZ, but I'm sure that won't stop me having a few drinks over the weekend. I'll drink to all you supportive Americans on this forum.

Take care
Sticky

Thanks guys for the support! I'm not tooo worried about the vomiting thing although I'm pretty sure it's some of sort of reaction to the nal, and not just having too much to drink (as I'm not drunk when the vomiting happens). But if that's what it takes to get my drinking under control, well, so be it. I have a very delicate stomach to begin with so this doesn't entirely surprise me.
Had a lovely last night with the bf on Tuesday and didn't over drink - we both had about four drinks over the course of 5-6 hours. When it was time to go home I did NOT have the horrible nagging desire to keep drinking-I was able to enjoy our last night together without thinking about more booze. That is really great and makes me hopeful. I was pretty sad on Wednesday so I decided to go AF - I know from experience that feeling lonely and then drinking myself into a hangover is a recipe for panic attacks, and I'd really like to avoid that this summer :/.
Quite a few celebrations lined up in the next 4 days however - not only the holiday, but one of my oldest and dearest friends is arriving from the West Coast for a couple of weeks. I really want to enjoy everything so I'm actually considering just going AF to alternate events. I'm going to be drinking tonight, so I might not drink Friday night when my friends and I go out on a boat to watch the fireworks.
EL

Hi ElectraLou,

Just read up on your vomiting episodes and it sounds similar to my experience. I have had a handful of occasions where after just a few drinks I've had to struggle to keep myself from vomiting. I did notice my wine tasted really bad when this happened, so the last time I switched to two other types of wine thinking maybe it was the wine, but they all tasted bad!!! Needless to say, I drank them without feeling sick again, but I didn't enjoy them, so I didn't bother drinking any more.

I just figured TSM was working and telling me that I'd reached my limit for the day (like it or not) rather than a Nal/Al reaction. Hopefully that's all it is for you.

All the best,
Genie

A major triumph yesterday night. I was wary of overdrinking as my boyfriend has left the country and I was going out for a boozy dinner with friends. I was afraid that I would start having fun, drink too much, start feeling sad, continue drinking to oblivion (does that sound familiar to anyone??). Anyways I had a bourbon at home getting ready....because I felt like it? it was pleasant, not a super strong craving or desire to get drunk beforehand or anything. And then I met my friends at the restaurant, where we ate and drank and gabbed for 3.5 hours. I had ONE DRINK the entire time!!!!! It was amazing...as I was winding down that drink and being offered another by the waitress I was just like, nah, I'll see how I feel in a few. And I just never felt like having another drink. Sipped on water and just TALKED, had fun, didn't think about drinking. Amazing.

Hi EL. well done you! Aren't those moments you realise things are changing between you and alcohol amazing? Hope you enjoy your 4th July celebrations and your friends' company. I'm sure you'll have many more amazing moments to come. Good to hear your're not too worried about the nausea, I hope that passes for you.

Fantastic progress - I love it!

It takes us all time to get there - but this level of self control is what we all strive for; and now you have it.

I'm so pleased for you!

Now where's that karaoke bar?

Andy
