Hi Greg - just catching up on posts...this one made me laugh.
I wanted to comment on some of your pre gender-switching questions, however.
I think there have been several reports of using Balcofen + Nal successfully to help with anxiety / depression. may want to search for those (oceana ocean and Ashl both use the combo)...
I am a big proponent of hypno and natural supplements...I still do the MWO hypno tapes (they are about $250 if you order from through the MWO site). I had great success with them originally but they did not help me sustain my sobriety long term. I then tried to add Topa to the mix and had horrible results. The hypno tapes help me tremendously with stress/anxiety/mood..and then remarkably I don't feel like drinking as much. I also take supps for depression -- I use Thorne Research supplements but I started with the MWO supps. GABA has been great for me...all-one is also great (I now use something similar from Thorne, but the all one will work). St. John's and everything else I have tried don't really help me. Increasing my fish consumption and taking Cod Liver Oil does help me. I'm still not 100% 'happy' but I'm going in the right direction and without anti-depressants which was my goal. Nothing against anti-d's I just wanted to try to fix myself without medicating further. Other than the Nal, it's all natural for me...I only decided to take Nal after much internal debate because for me it's a medication that is fixing something, not just masking the symptoms. It is working for me..and I too did not think I really 'craved' alcohol. It's just something silly I did every night out of boredom...after the kids are in bed I'd sit down and have 1/2 bottle of wine, which then became 3/4...which then started going to a whole bottle. Nights out with company were a free-for-all. You need to remember that addiction is a very sneaky thing...very easy to convince ourselves that we are drinking because of this or that and that we are not addicted. Anyway, I have also tried topa and it made me depressed and angry. This med does not...I barely notice it's there...it does not decrease my pleasure in life at all..I'm happier these days than I was without it.
The Nal fixes the very subtle wirings in our brain at a level that is too miniscule to notice. If you decide to try, there is plenty of support here and plenty of experiences, at this point, to refer back to.
Take Care,
