When I drink 6+ units on NAL I wake up really wired and stressed out in the middle of the night. Sometimes this is accompanied by heavy sweating. It does nearly always provoke an AF day following, but I'm curious if others have experienced this. I also notice that my capacity is lower on NAL, that I feel the effects of alcohol on far fewer units than without NAL. I only will drink 1 hour after the NAL dose, so I am comparing to pre TSM drinking. I just resumed NAL after a several month hiatus, and there's no honeymoon like I experienced the first time. I do find I enjoy drinking much less, because these "night terror" anxiety episodes are a big deterrent. Any comments?

I haven't really experienced the wired wake-ups drinking on nal. I do feel I'm responding positively to the nal, but I don't really experience extra nasty hangovers on nal as some report either. It does seem like I've had increased alcohol affect a couple of times, but I think that might already be a little bit of a decrease tolerance. The drinking experience is a little different for me - less manic, more realization that I should be calling it a night, thinking about the next day, etc. I'm ready for that though, and feel like it's a gift that the "normal" drinkers around me always had that I somehow missed out on. Good luck as you restart!

Thanks for the well wishes. I have not ever had hangovers with or without NAL. Perhaps the anxiety is an early side effect that I just missed on the first go around. Last week was 40 units and this week will end up about 29 so there's progress at least!

Hey retread,
Alcohol affects me a lot more on nal, and my hangovers are much worse (physically, at least - mentally, since I know that I didn't do anything horribly embarassing while drinking on nal, I feel ok). Nal also takes the mania away from my drinking, but I suspect it might affect my sleep as well - I have a hard time falling asleep if I drink 6+ drinks on the nal.

I don't spend much time thinking about this experience, but you accurately describe some of what happens to me sleeping on Nal+ couple beers. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, feeling too warm (not sweats) and lay half-awake and somewhat uncomfortable. When eventually roused enough, fully awake, I take a half of melatonin and fall right back to sleep, no problem. Since I rarely drink now, I had not really been too bothered by it.
