Hi Ketch - Yep, what's his name!? Forget him...his loss.

Glad to hear you TSMing is going well and that your shows are going well. What the heck happened to Patrick? Maybe I'm behind the times here as I haven't been logging into the forum much lately. What happened to the lawyer? I don't think that was Mark as I remember him to be a civil engineer. Girl, you've got more men than I can keep up with.

My dear Andy and all--- Here I am!

The technical problems are that the tavern and the two apartments that are above it lack wireless connection. So I am sitting on a bench on the skirt of the harbor picking up the Ketchikan Yacht Club's wireless connection. If you ever need it, the password is.... let me look around to make sure no one is peeking.... okay... coast is clear: kycvisit.

There. The cat is out of the bag!

Alright. Back to business. Show business that is. The owner of the Lumberjack Show is in town. He watched my shows. Wouldn't you know it? He has offered me a position in his newer, bigger, more theatrical show in Tennessee in the winter months. Wow!

However, and I am to-the-bottom-of-my-soul sincere.... I want to speak the message of Naltrexone's cure more than I want to continue to emcee a timbersport's competition. Just hope that Naltrexone will help me in the long run so that I can sing it's praises...

Time will tell.

As far as drinking. Same 'ol, same 'ol. Except something is very different. It is as if I am punching the time clock. Does this make sense? Okay... let me rephrase... it's as if my unpredicatablility has alas! become predictable. And the consequence is that I am getting into a pattern that is much, MUCH less erratic.

This is progress in my vocabulary.

Maybe not in yours. But I have been there stumbing, mumbling, falling, saying stuff that I, "NO WAY IN HELL" said.... in nights, black, that I of course, really and truly... even madly, said. Oh yeah.... I am that girl that some tsk, tsk. That others by another round for.

Progress, not perfection.

Drinking tonight. Had two great shows today. Now I have to ask how people want their eggs cooked tomorrow starting at 5:30 a.m. Ya' gotta' love the diochotomy afterall!!!!!!

Life's good. I am hosting a couch surfer from Wisconsin tonight and tomorrow. He is a hiking junkie. He could have even watched my show for free. But declined.

Password to get in my show for free: PINK

You didn't hear it here,

You should be on a Yacht ... not sitting on the harbour wall.

Great news about the Tennessee job. Watch out for the police there - quite brutal. I was given a real beating after being arrested for drunken disorderly conduct in Chattanooga. I was bailed and want straight from the drunk tank to the stage at our global sales conference to give a keynote presentation.

Can I ask: Would you have got the job offer if you were drinking at your pre-TSM levels? It seems to me that your acting abilities are really shining at the moment. is this due to a decrease in booze / increase in control.

I didn't quite get the 'time clock' analogy. Are you saying you are getting better? However, something you said worried me... are you still blacking out?

Take care and watch out for the surfer dude...

Andy.

Is the time clock supposed to mean like...you're putting in the hours drinking, but halfheartedly now? or that it's always the same old routine? Either way, I think those are good signs of progress and change.
But I'm also with Andy - watch out for surfer junkie boy :(
Congrats on all the great shows!

Hello, dear forum! I have missed everyone here!

Tomorrow I plan to sit down and take the time to catch up on everyone's lives, journey's, etc. Tonight, however, I am busy. Tonight I am eating part of the 27.6 King Salmon that I caught in the Ketchikan King Salmon Derby last weekend!!!!

Hell to the Yeah!

She was a bonafide beauty! I am on the ladder in 65th place. I am going again this Saturday. Soooooooooooo much fun!

I've been having a lot of that lately. Fun. Now, I got really drunk on the boat. Cracked a beer at an obnoxious 8:45 am. Kept drinking straight through until late afternoon. But I handled it. Still am. In fact, I have been slowly decreasing my unit intake as my records prove and I am immensely happy about this!

Yes, Andy, I do attribute my promotions at the show to TSM. Before TSM I would have been half the performer that I am today. I had great shows today. The higher ups are noticing too. So I've been asked to pick up an additional 5 shows weekly--- one being the coveted Disney Show!!!!!!!!! :D

That is a big deal. It is a sold out arena every Sunday at 4:45 pm The show is tailor-made for trolls, er, uh... kids I mean. That I was given this show means that they REALLY like what I am doing. Thank you Universe!!! Thank you!!

As far as men and drinking. They seemingly go hand in hand: I have been kinda seeing Dan lately. Though I still cannot (for the life of me) find his lips! It is his boat that we are fishing on and he has been so very sweet, kind and generous these past weeks. He buys everything and does all the work and I just sit back and enjoy the ride. He even vacuum-packed my fish in several packages today... I walked into his place earlier and the wine is chilled and all is well.

He does take care of me. For sure.

As far as drinking. It is the same. And Electra, you got what I meant by "punching the clock." It is now ritual: This. It never really deviates from a 1.5 litre bottle of white wine. I do not drink more than that, though I used to. Nor have I felt the urge to slam a shot, glass, or beer before work. NEVER.

That's where I be, folks.

Tomorrow, I'll catch up on your threads.

Peace out and wish you were here to enjoy this VERY fresh salmon!

Warmly,

Ketchikan1

Hi Ketch!
Okay, now you've got me jealous- catching (and eating) kings IS a blast! My broke ass won't be doing it any time soon though unless I find a boat owning sugar daddy like you. Even vaccuum packing it for you?! Come on! :D He'll probably stock your freezer with moose meat and fresh blueberries by the end of the summer too....

Yeah, 8:45 am is pretty obnoxious but I find it much harder not to do in these AK summers, especially when you're out recreating. It's practically a given in most circles. Then you can easily keep it up late into the night since it's still so light out. I think I made it til about 10 am this last Memorial Day but kept it up all day long. It was just so damn nice out! And I wasn't even on a boat!

What I understood from your "punching clock" analogy was that drinking is becoming less exciting for you. For me, one thing that's starting to change is that I'm losing that excited/giddy/even slightly panicky feeling that I would get right before I opened that bottle and took my first gulps. It's starting to become more of a "well, time to drink again...." feeling. Like another poster said- almost becoming more of a chore. Like punching a clock. It's still pretty mild at this point and I get back some of the giddy feeling after a few drinks. If this is what you meant, I think it's very promising progress.

Congrats on your performing success!!

Hello all.

The salmon was delicious!

Now to a more sour note.

Before leaving Florida about a year and a half back, my friends threw me a going away party. After many beers and stupid shots of jagermeister, I headed for my car and feebly attempted to make my way home. Damn if I didn't side swipe a car heading in the opposite lane, thank God he was only doing like 7 miles an hour... but then I panicked, of course, and proceeded to roll a stop sign and was then nabbed by the Sarasota police. This happened TWO weeks before I was to board a plane with two bags, a dog and one me.

My parents helped me retain the services of a top DUI attorney who worked it out with the courts that I could relocate to Alaska and do community service, classes et. al. right here in Ketchikan. All went well and all of the court's requirements were met. The Florida judge knocked this second DUI of mine down to a first offense (because the first DUI occured nearly 10 years prior) and even though I blew over 2.0 (yikes!) the judge ordered that I do not have to have that stupid interlocking device in my vehicle. When I visited family and friends about six months back, I went to DMV and found that they are able to supersede a court of law (isn't that unconstitutional???) and I found out yesterday that I will have to follow Florida's rules in order to get my driving privileges back.

You know, I don't know if this is the alcoholic in me or what-- but I am a very comfortable ostrich-like-creature who loves to keep my head deep in the sand.
I want it all to go away.... I even thought about acquiring another identity-- but a felon I refuse to be.

I want a new and improved me.

This too: I am having severe allergic reactions lately after I drink my normal high intake of wine. I wake myself up with coughing and stuffiness in my sinuses. Do you think this has to do with Naltrexone? Anybody else experiencing this?????

So here we go. Another $1500.00 tagged onto this DUI that has cost roughly $9000.00

Ain't life grand,

Ketchikan1

hey Ketch,
Love your posts as always. Glad to hear you are having FUN and that it doesn't all revolve around boozing. I know what you mean about drinking becoming predictable and almost like a chore. I'm kind of there myself - even when I look forward to drinking and getting drunk, I can't seem to get there or really enjoy it. It's frustrating at the time but ultimately a good sign I think :)
Keep on posting!
EL
