Merlot - That is so amazing. No wine for over two months. Can't wait to get there.

Merlot, from 16 weeks on you have had an amazing run of abstinence and moderate drinking. Thanks for continuing to post updates for all to see. As the newly cured we need to carry the torch for a while. Sometimes I think this is a dream it's too good to be true.

Wow! i agree with St V, your average units don't really tell the story because of your remarkable progress from week 16 on. Congratulations and please do keep us posted, even if you only have a big fat zero to report :)

Update for weeks 28 and 29: same as the last update. I plan to drink again in April (with NAL) and will provide an update on taking NAL + drinking again after 2 months of voluntary -- and easy -- abstinence.

Data so far:

Weeks on TSM: 29
Units on TSM: 460
Average units per week on TSM: 15.9

Typical weekly units pre-TSM: 60+

Just a quick update. I still haven't had a drink since the end of January.

Strange. I keep breaking my promise -- to have a drink (on Nal)!

It's been very easy as I hardly think about alcohol nowadays and haven't been going out in drinking situations a lot. However, I have no rule against drinking. The only rule is to take NAL beforehand. I will test things out again soon and see how I react after almost 4 months without NAL or alcohol. Hopefully I will have no side effects.

For those of you that are just beginning, abstinence is not and was never my goal when I started. You never know what to expect on TSM journey, though.

Hey Merlot: Don't forget that you could start with .25mg when/if you decide to drink. I have reduced my dose without noticeable increase in my drinking. I should add that I am keeping a close watch. I may certainly be in error about this. But so far it has been at least three weeks on half dose and my frequency is still going down. In past two weeks, I drank only three days (3-4 beers/per occasion).
Just a thought, I'll continue to post my experiment.
I only recommend it cautiously at this point.

That's great Merlot, glad to hear things continue to go well. It looks like you fall into the 25-33% that end up abstinent after doing TSM. It's nice to know you can have a drink if you want one and not light the fuse on a stick of dynamite. No one in an abstinence based treatment struggling with the alcohol deprivation effect could possibly understand that.

That line made me laugh. The irony is thick my friend. Great to hear from you.
