Glad you're not bothered by extra units in w 6 , sounds quite normal for a holiday .

Hi Happy.
Yes , I do wish you luck with the extinction opportunities that's the way to see them. Your attitude sounds solid for the journey . Great .

Week 8 results up above (4/30/2009)...

Summary: Drinking more this week..but I have been reading a 'Power of positive thinking' pamphlet so according to the instructions I will say " I am extinguishing a lot. This is working. I am getting better!" How's that??

Good luck to everyone as we drift into MAY!

Hey Happy - You're doing great!

I'm glad your results show it can take quite a while to see changes, because it's important for the new members to understand that. The number of units isn't the only measure of progress, so it's misleading to look at that alone. Under the surface, your brain is slowly changing - even though you can't feel it. I like the analogy of knowing that young kids are physically growing all the time, even when you can't see it - you just KNOW it's happening without question. Then, after several months, you measure the height, and its' like - "Wow, you grew X inches!" Nobody really SAW it happen, but the results show otherwise. We don't doubt that kids grow slowly, so why should we doubt that we will? Keep up the great attitude - you inspire all of us to think positively while we plug away. Congratualtions! :D :D :D

Thanks for the encouraging words WTE & Kris - helps me very much. (I have hit a bit of a bad patch lately so have been relying on this board more and more..).

WTE - looks like you are learning to type with you bum fingers or are feeling better - lots of posts today, good to see :D

What you say here is so true, Kris. I love the analogy. While my drinking is moderately down, and not consistently so, the way I view myself, alcohol - the world, really - is undergoing a dramatic change. I'm much more clear-headed, whether drinking or not. I'm more in control of myself when I drink, and usually drink slower. I don't say/do the stupid things I used to do, and really wonder if Nal is extinguishing that behavior, along with the addiction. All of these things are allowing me to like myself a lot more! Because my drinking levels are lower, I don't wake up hung-over and shaky any more. . .nor do I black out b/4 going to bed. There have been a few times when I had a glass of wine early in the day, for lunch, and then didn't have another until just before dinner time. I don't feel the compulsion to go out to the local bar every night of the week, but am content to stay home much of the time. If I'm low on wine. . .so what? No big deal, as I know I can go a night w/o drinking two whole bottles. Think of the money being saved!

In other words, alcoholic behavior is definitely becoming a thing of the past, even though alcoholic drinking is not yet extinguished. Odd, but definitely true.

I am there with you on this thought. I say the same thing, in different words, no longer the AL behavior. Not hung over, no before sleep blackouts, I have periods of the evening where I am just "finished" drinking. In the past this would never happen. I have a time of satisfaction, and not inebriation. So I agree, this is a change, subtle, but true. Let's see what the future holds.

SUNSHINE CAME SOFTLY THROUGH MY WINDOW TODAY....
