Great post Nick, I find it interesting that once you remove the oppressive craving of alcohol much of the "selfishness" subsides and the spiritual awakening happens all on its own. I think about people like Susie and how her life is so much more fulfilling now. My family and friends notice a difference in me too. I'm a better parent and friend and just generally more helpful because I'm not distracted by looking for my next fix. Expecting an alkie to be spiritually enlightened while they are suffering from alcohol deprivation effect is like being disappointed that a heroin addict going through withdrawal forgot your birthday.

I came across the origins article mentioned in this posting topic the other day (and was really ticked off by it too!)... and tonight I stumbled on this post about it quite by accident.

I just wanted to point out (being a bit of a search engine geek), that if you dislike or disagree with an article out there on the internet, DON'T include the link on this site (or any other site).... Google, while crawling over this site will see the origins article links posted in this thread by very well-meaning participants and conclude that it is a good article that should continue to appear in search engine results. (In fact, maybe part of the reason i stumbled on that dumb origins thing was because the links on this site gave it credibility for google)....

So - golden rule of SEO (search engine optimization) - never post a link to an article you can't stand or that you strongly disagree with... and always post links to articles you do agree with (and don't want to see buried).

I came across that garbage article this past fall when specifically looking for "negatives" to TSM. It was one of two I found, the other being a blog riddled with obscenities written by an intelligent but otherwise plum crazy partly reformed drug addict. I dismissed them both in favor of the numerous clinical studies I found with google scholar, all demonstrating the efficacy of TSM.

By the way did you notice that Origins offers equine therapy? I wonder what the success rate is for playing around in horse manure........
