Can anyone tell me if you've experienced increased anxiety while on Nal? I have had anxiety issues in the past that have been well controlled with Zoloft, which I am currently on (50mg). I began taking NAL two weeks ago and suffered the usual side effects but not a big deal. This last weekend I knew that I would be drinking at events during the day so I took NAL in the morning and suffered horrible anxiety. Luckily, once I began drinking the anxiety went away but I am starting to wonder if the NAL is making the Zoloft not work.

I've never heard of this before. Do you have a doctor you can consult?

No, I've not found a doctor that will prescibe NAL so I just ordered it online. My anxiety is so bad this morning that I think I am going to have to stop the NAL. I sure wish I could find a local doctor that would work with TSM. Feeling very discouraged!

I'm on Zoloft and nal as well, and there are no medical contraindications. However, I have also noticed that the nal makes me feel physically edgy, which very easily translates into anxiety. I've noticed that cutting down on caffeine consumption when taking nal helps a lot.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a doctor that is prescribing Zoloft and NAL? Did the edginess decrease with time or is it still bad? I don't drink caffeine so that can't be a contributing factor.

Yes, it's the same doctor prescribing both, so she's looked into the matter. I find that after the first 3 times I took the nal, all of the side effects have decreased dramatically, including the edginess. I think your body will most likely get used to it after a few weeks. Keep us posted!

The strange part is that the anxiety seems to be getting worse as time goes on. I have been taking NAL daily for 11 days and had the worst anxiety yet this morning.

It might sound trite, but 5-HTP (an amino acid, a/k/a tryptophan) helps take the edge off my anxiety. I get it OTC at Walgreens.

kd, I'm still on low-dose baclofen. For some people it helps with anxiety and for some it makes it worse. I am not entirely certain which way it works for me. If I don't take it at all, I get anxious, but that is as likely to be due to physical withdrawal of baclofen.
