Welcome Juancho, it looks like you're heading into the honeymoon period (if your not already there) and have been getting strong side effects- both of these auger well for your potential success with Nal. Good luck and once again, welcome.

Ok, so had a good week, with one "over the top" day of 8 units. Other than that the overall weekly numbers are at 41.

Had some very strong, bad feelings the morning after the 8 units - doubts about TSM, along the lines of what I have seen from others - jdog, et al. Was a bit weird, but powered through it.

Went out to dinner with a buddy, drank too much, had a hell of a time - had a bit of a gnarly hangover the next morning. Had to hash some stuff out, so really needed some guy time.

All in all, things appear to be progressing. I feel the triggers, I take the nal, (one hour before!) and I keep moving forward...

You've had side-effects and a huge, initial drop off (the honeymoon) and now you are having doubts. We should move doubts into the formula because they are also universal. How can anyone not doubt the process when your units spike and you are drinking like the bad old days? Fortunately, it's entirely part of the process and you are on your way. You'll get there.

Nick--not to try to speak as an expert on TSM, but I think we should for sure include doubt as standard after the honeymoon. I also like the frequently used term "rollercoaster"

As far as I'm concerned, since most doctors have their head up their ass regarding TSM, we pioneers are the experts on TSM. And yes, naltrexone+drinking+doubt+patience= regaining control would be a good, amended formula. ;) Or maybe, naltrexone+drinking=honeymoon ---> spike/doubt = rollercoaster + patience = regaining control.

Oh so true and well put Nick. My process has been:

naltrexone+drinking=honeymoon ---> spike/doubt = rollercoaster +naltrexone+drinking--> spike/doubt = rollercoaster + patience = naltrexone+drinking ---> spike/doubt = rollercoaster + patience!!! + WAITING TO REGAIN CONTROL.

BTW - Most doctors are out of touch with the times. They simply don't realize the resources the public has these days to learn about medicine and for the most part practice medicine by phone and pills. That's my take on it anyway.

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Juancho....hope you are doing well.

No apologies required! I am open to, and looking for, any input I can get...

I think the comments are right on w/r/t modern medicine and doctors. The irony here is they have mostly been turned into pharmacists - Except when it comes to dealing with folks in our predicament. The more of us there are, and the more it works for, and the more positive change that comes as a result of TSM, well - the more it moves from the fringe, into the mainstream - at least in the eyes of the medical community. I can say that for me, where it stands now - even if I am never "cured" - the changes in my life so far are worth the nal+al routine.

Reduced or no:

Blackouts
A-hole behavior
Hangovers

I have still had a hangover, and a mild blackout - but thats once each in three weeks, rather than once each per night...

I am writing all this so I can remind myself of the reason I am here and to always focus on the positive...

Hi Juancho

Good on you for focusing on the positives. I need to do that often as I can feel discouraged with the roller coaster ride the past 4 1/2 months have been since the honeymoon period.
I do feel fortunate that my GP was happy for me to give TSM a go. He said it sounded like a more natural way of treating alcoholism than traditional methods. He even said he'd like to read the book when he isn't so busy, so we'll see...
I will still have to go to a A & D doctor when my stash of nal runs out in a few months as a prescription needs a special authority from the Ministry of Health in NZ.
Keep up the good work!

Cheers
Sticky :P

I am heading to Canada in a few weeks. Is Nal available OTC there? Is it cheap?
