mlb -- I have been waiting to see what happened for you. I'm sorry that you are in the grip of this binge and I am praying that this is the week you break out of it. You are an inspiration to all of us on this site and when you overcome this temporary setback we will all cheer. Do not lose heart.
My best, Amy

I was wondering how you are doing mlb? I hope things have stabilized and you're in a good place buddy.

A long-overdue update.

Sorry I've been away. I have not been in the hospital, or jail, or rehab or anything, but I've been drinking way too much.

I honestly don't know what happened. I was doing so well through week 30 and then just started drinking more and more. I'm not back to where I started, but I'm really disappointed that I've let this happen.

I went to see a new doctor today because my previous doctor - the one who prescribed the nal - had left his practice and I was out of refills on my blood pressure meds. Actually, the new doctor was out and I just saw his nursing assistant. I was telling her my history and the meds I take and told her about the nal. She had never heard of it so I explained the purpose and the theory.

She said that they have had good luck using Topamax, but that she wanted to read up on the nal first before suggesting I try it. I hadn't paid much attention before to other people's discussions of Topamax and Baclofen because I thought the nal was going to do it for me. After my experience of the past 10 weeks, I'm not so sure. If the new doc suggests the topamax, I'll probably give that a try, too.

Man, I'm so sorry to see this. I have never seen a graph that looks anything like that. Such a huge spike so late in the game is unprecedented, I think. Did anything change along the way? Did you change your source of Naltrexone? Your numbers are so high I just hope your doctor can find something that works for you. And I really hope things get better for you.

My best,

Nick

Wow, MLB I just read your thread. Which was amazingly inspirational. It sucks that you're having an upward spike right now but I think the worst thing is to beat yourself up about it - which will likely lead you to drink more. Just focus on the fact that you KNOW you can drink less, because you've done it. It might take some work to get back to those lower levels but I really believe you can do it!

@Nick

No, my nal source didn't change. Same pharmacy. Pills look the same.

I don't know what happened. No major changes in my life or anything.

Hi MLB - I'm glad you are back with us and posting again. I'm sure it is hard to post bad news though. As each week passes for me in TSM and my units don't come down I have more and more trouble posting despite the positives I've seen on TSM. I am so sorry that you are going through this. When I started on this forum you were one of the first to encourage me, so I want to be here to encourage you. We are the true guinea pigs for TSM. None of us know the course our TSM recovery will take so don't give up hope. You just never know how TSM will go for you.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm going to try real hard this week to get the graph started heading back down.
