Tee Hee Hee. Funny!

My dog is the only being in my presence. That being said, he is the only creature with the ability to take my wine away.

However, He lacks the capability so I am in the safe zone. Safe from him-- but not safe from my alcoholic self. Damn.

My wine is ALL MINE!

But I do tell Ripley, as perhaps many of you do tell your sons, daughters, husbands, gerbils, mothers..... et al. .......

"____________, bear with me. My out-of-control-drinking will end. Forgive me my sloppiness, my dishelvement, my unpredicatability and my overall nonsense. This too shall pass. Pinky promise....."

Not that they believe us. Even Ripley is weary. Best, Ketchikan1

Hi Ketchikan

I've enjoyed reading your posts and wish you luck for the longhaul/roller coaster ride of TSM.
Your job in May sounds cool but challenging. Already you have had several AF days so by then it should be easier to have them if you need to have your wits about you to perform.
In New Zealand we count 7.5 units in a 750ml bottle of wine so that equals 15 units in a 1.5l bottle.
I was thinking about the expression "even keel" which i am always striving for. Maybe it relates to the keel on a yacht being straight up and down or on an angle? (Our family sails on a 24' trailer sailer.)

All the best
Sticky

Thanks Sticky! Yes, performing will be challenging but I am a trained actor and have a resume full of theatre, Auto Show tours, Home & Garden cooking show tours, Musical Children's theatre tour, themeparks (Disney, Universal, HersheyPark), commercials, etc.

This production is different. It's a 700 seat arena. I am the emcee with a microphone and it's basically sports announcing. The sport being 12 events in Timbersports like chopping, sawing, speed climbing, boom running, axe throwing.

Sorry if I am boring you with the details. It does take a lot of energy. I was doing pretty well until yesterday. Saturday.

It was a day off and for the first time since beginning TSM I popped a Nal at 8:30 in the morning and had two and a half glasses of wine at 9:30 am. Then I went out to lunch with a friend. Had two glasses of wine there. Then came home and polished off 8 more units.

Ugh. However, all this consumption was spread out in the course of morning, noon and late afternoon. I am VERY hungover. Big sigh.
Have to work now. Or get ready for work. Anyone wanna wait on tables and work for me today? I'll throw in an extra $50 bucks? :)

This too, Sticky-- the axes that the lumberjacks use and own are made in New Zealand. That's where the best axes come from. Thought you'd like to know....

Okay, it is 2 in the morning and I am awake with a throbbing headache. Saturday, I declared it a "Drunk Day" and began consuming wine at around 9:30 a.m. Drank throughout the day and passed out by eight-ish. Worked yesterday with a perilous hangover. Drank after work anyway.

What I notice is this: Last night I was about 6 glasses of wine in but I did not feel the magic. I felt like a non-alcoholic might feel (though I can only imagine what a non-alcoholic truly feels) when consuming drinks: tipsy, yes. Out of control, no.

It happened anyway. The black out. It happened during "Celebrity Apprentice." So,that means that I blacked out around 9:30 pm. I love gathering clues like Gretle searching for the damn breadcrumbs. Yes, I am being facetious. I hate my alcoholism. I hate that it runs me and that it runs me into the ground. I feel victimized. Isn't that weird?

There are two things that I know for sure. 1. I do not trust people who do not like Led Zeppelin, and, 2. My hangovers are becoming mighty nasty. Worse than ever drinking pre-TSM.

Now, I am reading Nick's Progress. I am on page 9. Maybe I should, too, switch to light beer, leaving pinot grigio behind. The hangovers are more than I've ever dealt with. I am hopeful, though. TSM is working. And isn't that all that matters?

Well you are in luck: I'm not a huge rocker, but one of my first albums purchased -- which I still enjoy every now and then on CD -- is Houses of the Holy. The Ocean is my favorite off that album.

Yes, please get off that cheap-ass piss-in-a-box. Talk about a recipe for a hangover! And yes, naltrexone makes hangovers worse for most people, this is certain. Switch to light beer and it won't be long before flowers and a thank you note are headed towards Minneapolis. You will be less likely to blackout on light beer also. (However, it won't save you from crap TV. Maybe "Celebrity Apprentice" gave you the headache. ;))

Love your posts. Hang in there.

My best,

Nick

I couldn't agree with Nick more, Led Zeppelin rocks and Donald Trump interacts with your opioid receptors and large quantities of Pinot Grigio in ways that increase hangovers. Solution, turn the Zeppelin up the Donald down and just keep taking the nal, you may find that Pinot Grigio losing it's allure over the next 6 months.

I LOVE YOU GUYS SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Question for Nick: Do you prefer daffodil's, long-stemmed roses or a bonsai tree? Just need the address and a bouquet will be sent! I am on page 22 of your poetically symbiotic stream. I am so very moved by the challenges you continually face.

Post Script: That girl was just too young for you. You are a lot to handle. I say this, because it takes one to know one.

But I don't yet know the outcome. By page 30 you might have had twins with her for all I know.

Thank you for your immpecable honesty. Your raw fight wrestled in paragraphs made available for all of our hungry eyes to see!

You both are my hero's, afterall. Well, I admire all who have gone before me on this jagged path. Your today is where I long to be. It is marked on my calendar: I just don't know the exact date. You'll know when I know. In fact, you'll be the very first to know the day I can sharpie on a future, random Thursday: "Regained Control!!!!!!!!!!!!"

How 'bout it.... Here's to extinction: Die Alcoholisaurus, You ugly T-Rex, Die!!!! Again, just need the address, Nick, and your flowers or tree will be sent.....

No twins with that love interest as she is ancient history. Have been happily dating someone else for a year now which is good because chasing women used to be my number one trigger. ;)

No need to send the flowers just yet, my friend. Take that cash and buy some Miller or Bud Light. When you regain control, then we can talk flowers. In the meantime, your highly entertaining posts are good enough. ;)

Awwwwwwww,,,,, Wow! I mean that. Your posts hit me in the very bull's eye of my sunken heart, Nick.

Guess what? Bought a 12 pack of Coors Light today.

Told the toe-headed clerk Jeffery that I am in the second part of my "treatment" and I now need beer not wine.

"Why not a small bottle of wine?" he humbly asked

"Ummmm, no sulfites.... yeah, you know that that damned white wine has sooooo many sulfites, Jeff,,,"

I am drinking my third coors light and I have to be honest.... I feel like I am 17 again and am at a darn kegger....

That's right! I feel like a teenager attending a Keg party.

Thanks Nick. Naughty Nick. Just when a girl is sinking nicely into a pinot grigio'ed slime...

Now look what U've done! I am damn drunk......

Coors Lighted,

Ketchikan1
