Congratulations digetic, You responded immediately and your numbers never really spiked. Amazing! It's great to see so many of us having success lately. I've enjoyed following your thread.

Hey Digetic,

Absolutely amazing. Your response to nal seemed to be immediate and sustained and virtually pain-free. If only everyone's experience could be like that. I'm every happy for you. I already know that this method will work for me, but your success only cements that thought in my mind. Please continue to check in every now and then so we know how you're doing.

I'm still astounded that this method is so unknown, but has been working miracles for so many people on this board and elsewhere.

Like Nemo and Pacificman and St. Vincent (among others), my 'cure' was textbook. I gained control after 4 months and became indifferent to alcohol after 5 months. Who could have ever believed that the process could be so easy and painless? I initially had only mild side effects: one episode of 5 min. nausea post 1st dose (25mg), some unremarkable wooziness and a week or so of light sleeping. I would have rather died an alcoholic than surrendered to AA. I only wish TSM worked for everyone in the same way it worked for me.

Unfortunately, you started here during my brief hiatus from the board. I'm sorry I wasn't around to offer advice from a "regained control" perspective, but clearly you made it out just fine! Congrats! In reading your thread, I see you had the classic honeymoon followed by a spike. This is almost so universal that I am at a loss as to why the studies in the book make virtually no reference to it. The graphs posted also make no reference to the spike. I think it's a shame, because as you so aptly point out, so many people (without the benefit of this board), could easily conclude after the honeymoon and then spike, that TSM does not work. You and I (and hundreds of others) know for a fact it does work and that the spike is proof positive naltrexone is rewiring our brain.

Did you keep taking 25 mg or go up to 50 mg on a regular basis?

After having had such great success, I have cut down my dose to 25mg and have not noticed any change in effectiveness. I considered that I drink so little now, and usually for no longer than within a few hours of dosing. I am prepared to go back to 50 mg if I notice any significant change in my attitude/habit re: alcohol.
I have greatly appreciated your watchful concern/support over new members. Nal on!

Congratulations Digetic! That's good to know about the dosage. I drink so infrequently now that I haven't considered monkeying with it but further down the road it may be something I look at. I've had mixed experiences with the few times I've taken NAL over the past couple of months. Once I woke up feeling like I'd drank a barrel of grog & slept in a ditch ( I'd only had one glass of wine), the other time I was absolutely fine the morning after. It's hard to predict but the thought that I could feel so crappy makes me avoid drinking (like, is this one glass of wine going to be worth how I might feel tomorrow? nah).
