Mario,
Sorry about the job worries. Try and focus on how hard they have worked to retain you. This is a good sign that your company really values you. With any luck that will be enough to see you through this recession. I bet the pre TSM and quit Mario might not have had her job saved like this. Proud of you for keeping moderate through all this. The last thing you need is anxiety and headaches from drinking. Hang in there friend. I am sure we have to pass through this recession soon.

Sometimes I marvel at how lucky I am that I ever found tsm. There are so, so many alcoholics out there and only such a tiny minority have found this drug which to me and many here is a wonder drug. My mind is so completly different to what it used to be when I was drinking alcoholically. The beast of addiction that lived in me had such far reaching consequences in all parts of my life. It was so awfull yet now it almost seems like that beast never lived here at all. Its just such a freedom. The only thing that could ever raise him from the dead is drinking without nal.

I did have one drink on Tuesday night without nal. Hubby was making the pancakes for Pancake Tuesday (dont know if that tradition exsists outsie of Ireland and England) and he was putting brandy in the sauce. I was relaxing watching tv and he brought me in a French coffee.I coulnt refuse as he doesnt even know that Im on tsm. I really enjoyed it all the more so as that one was plenty.

Have a good weekend everybody

Glad to hear things continue to go well Mario. We're starting to have a number of people on the board with a year under their belt like you and hopefully it will continue to grow so TSM is not such a secret.

Yeah Im really happy with nal. If I ever think that it isnt working 100% of the time I just have to sit back and realise that if I had drank like I do now all my life I most certainly would not think for a moment that I had an issue with alcohol. Friday night myself and my sister always look forward to having a few drinks. At this stage she often drinks more than I do and I got such a kick out of her saying last Friday night " OK Im up early in the morning (she was going for a massage) and I dont want a hangover so Im going to stop drinking when you do" I said DO YOU HEAR what you just said- thats complete role reversal. She said "I know its brilliant isnt it" She admitted that me going on nal frightened the life of her and she couldnt believe that this drug would work and yet no doctor in Ireland knew about it. She told me she was extremly sceptical but that now its wonderfull even for her to have the worry of me being an alcoholic gone and being able to look forward to having a few drinks with me again. She also admitted that there was lots of nights that she would go out and would hide it on me in case I wanted to go and I would get drunk and make a show of myself and her. It still hurt me that that happened but I know too that she had very little choice I would have done the same thing if I had been in her position.

Hi Mario - What an inspiration you are to me. I am now starting to feel real progress with Nal as I see my craving come down which then means lower units per week. I don't want to get too cocky as I know I'm still very much on the roller coaster but it is hard to believe that I can now limit myself to 5 units a night and not want more. Last night I even got a little drunk on the 5 units because my tolerance for alcohol is decreasing.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that your posts help me a lot. How cool is that your sister now counts your drinks to keep herself under control! Awesome. Have a good week.

Hi Mario-I just spent some time getting caught up with your posts. I don't have much to add except to echo the sentiments of others and say I thoroughly enjoyed reading about our progress over the past months. I've vacationed on the west coast of island and have vague recollections of singing old gaelic tunes while sitting on the bar--these days I'd much rather take the spa option too! Your hubby sounds like a keeper :)

Hi there, I just wanted to pop in and say hello and thank you for your support in my thread. I am about half way through your progress report and will hopefully finish it today. I think you were very brave to go from 3 years of total abstinence to trying Naltrexone, I don't know of I am brave enough...

Would you mind if I ask a few questions?

Best

C
