I'm heading into my fifth week and I thought it was time to start my weekly progress posting. The first two weeks saw a nice drop in my consumption, but the second two weeks have show an increase. Even then, I'm below where I was when I started the Naltroxene.

The advice I've gotten from the good folk on the board is that I've gone through "the honeymoon" and am now into "the extinction burst". I still don't know whether this is going to work for me, but I'm determined to stay with it. Taking the Nal an hour before drinking hasn't been a problem, and I'm sure I can stick to the routine.

Tomorrow I open my second bottle of pills. I'm going to continue to be mindful of how much I drink, measuring it out so that I know exactly how much.

I'll continue to post my stats and remain hopeful that this really is the way out...

I am highly confident this is your way out. I have read almost every post here and I've never seen anyone have the honeymoon followed by the extinction burst and conclude that TSM did not work for them. These are clear signs Naltrexone is rewiring your brain. Follow the routine and you will be out.

My best,

Nick

Hey away - Yep, take the nal, drink the al, post the numbers, and you will be on your way out. Glad to see you are still here.

Keep at it, I am in my 3rd week. First week = honeymoon. Reality has set back in, i know it is a long process, and I am ready for it. I am currently on a business trip, working, and taking my Nal prior to drinking. Best wishes, keep at it!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys, it really helps!

I just finished up week five, and the good news is that the drinking is trending down again. Don't know if that will stick or not, but it makes me feel good.

I had a burst in week 5 too-it was good to know it's relatively common and as is the case with all things, that too did pass

Well, week 6 has come and gone and my drinking is still trending downward! It's sort of picked up the last few days. But, at this point I'm just not going to worry about it. Reading the posts on the board gives me hope it's going to work, so I'm just sticking to it!

My best to everybody!

You will have ups and downs but be confident it's working. It will take 6-12 months before you regain control. But along the way you will have more clarity, less embarrassing behavior and fewer hangovers.

Hi Away - Yep, I had a burst in week 5 too. Then, my numbers started coming down. Nick's words are wise ones to follow. I find that I have up weeks and down weeks and if I didn't have this board I'd be going nuts over that. Instead, I just trust the process like you are doing knowing I will get there in the end. With each passing week I have more clarity, less embarrassing moments, and fewer hangovers.

I've been offline for a while, but I'm still "working the program"!

My number have really gone up the last few weeks, though. I've been under a lot of stress and I think I'm just responding to it the way I always have - drink until it goes away. The Naltroxen doesn't seem to stop me from doing that. It does feel like it's slowing me down a little, though.

Best wishes to everyone!
