Also reeling after a nasty binge! I have read many posts today to perk me up.....the same thing keeps coming up...nal+alc+PATIENCE = Cure! I guess we just have to go through some rough patches until the thing kicks in proper.....its easy to get down tho esp when u feel rough and you feel like u have 'failed' but still, its better having a rough one knowing you have NAL in your life than in the even darker days when i would relapse in AA or whatever i was trying to do. At least we know that a heavy relapse when on NAL is part of a process! I have decided that from now on I will try my best to put in some more effort.....ie alternating drinks, drinkin water etc etc....just doing my bit rather than doing absolutely nothin and expecting the best! I wish you the best anyway IamDave. cheers, C

thanks for the posts dave!

i also feel that the naL takes away the craving somewhat. from what i have read, that is the way naL got its start- as an anti-craving drug.

Hey Dave - In weeks 6 & 7 I wasn't seeing many changes either. I got really discouraged in week 7 and read through all of the posts on this board to perk me up! So, you are on track. Keep taking Nal+Al and you will get there. Now in week 10 my units are finally reducing substantially.

HG

Thanks HG.
Congrats on your big drop in units!
I know I am where I am supposed to be, so I will Nal-on lol.
Wound up with 38 for week 7, and since 17 drinks were on 1 day, the other days were pretty good. I am thinking about incorporating some al management simply because I can't take having a hangover like that again! It think maybe the Nal contributed to the devastating hangover, I think that would be how "normal" people would have felt after a drinking episode like that, so I am hoping thats more proof that I am getting better!
But I still am wondering if I should actually be trying management at this point or just let Nal do it's job.
Hang in there everyone!
Dave

Hey Dave - I am for just letting Nal do its thing. I too have had some wicked hangovers with Nal that I don't recall having before Nal. Maybe those hangovers are part of the process of reducing our units. Like you said, just Nal-on and don't sweat the small stuff. I'm hoping for my first AF day this week but if it doesn't happen I will look forward to it when it does come as I know it will eventually. The fact that you are having so many AF days is awesome!

Hi IamDave, you have a pretty great week if you take those 17 out of the equation. Well done. Your units seem to be fairly stable too. Keep up the good work and remember the tortoise won the race. Warrenjames

I haven't posted on my progress thread for a while so here goes.
I have been reading everyones posts every day, they really help. Thank you all.

My numbers don't really look like I have decreased my drinking much, however, my binge night (it seems like once a week I go overboard) has had a lower total, which is great. My nightly totals are way down too, less than 6 per night usually. I have only had one mildly hungover day in the past few weeks which is a relief. I haven't blacked out, passed out, or acted like an ass either.

Like everyone else, I wish I was doing better, but as long as I am seeing progress I am happy! So I am 10 weeks in, can't wait until I am 10 months.
Thanks again everyone for your posts.
Dave

Hi Dave - Your numbers look great to me. You are well on your way to regaining control.

While drastically reduced numbers are great, they are only a small part of progress on TSM. Reduced or eliminated hangovers, reduced or eliminated blackouts and reduced or eliminated ass-like behavior are a very under-appreciated part of the TSM process.

You'll get there!

My best,

Nick

Well done Dave

You really are doing well. 18 years sober was amazing too - good for you. i hope that now you've recovered from your heavy night you are feeling healthier and more upbeat. keep it up!

Cheers
