I'd seen a bit of progress but had still been lapsing back into bingeing until this past week, when suddenly something seems to have changed. I bought a six-pack on Tuesday, and would normally have gone home and polished the whole thing off. After taking my Nal, I had a couple of bottles and then pretty much lost interest in drinking any more. Same thing Wednesday night - two beers and I was done.

Tonight I had the last two, and a couple of glasses of wine with my wife. There's another bottle on the counter, but I have no desire whatsoever to open it, which is a far cry from the way I used to be. There was a time when I would have drank that one as well, then jumped in the car to go get more. I'm really amazed at how this stuff works, although we don't seem to have any control over how long it takes. But what a difference to be able to actually stop while I can still remember the evening.

I started TSM in June of last year, and although it's been way more than the three or four months the book indicates, I still feel I'm on track to regain control of my drinking. And I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Eskapa and this group for helping to make it possible. I have to admit I was pretty skeptical at the outset, but it seems that time and perseverance are the keys to success. Not that I'm there yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - or maybe a better simile would be the empty stool at the end of the bar.

Well done weird-oh

That sounds like the progress we are all hoping for. For you it has been 8 months. That gives those of us who haven't been around for so long lots of hope.

All the best

Sticky 8-)

Hi Weird-oh - Amazing post. This is what I needed to hear today. It sounds just like what happened to Bob3d and of course many others. At some point they stopped caring altogether about drinking more during a drinking session and found they could walk away easily. I can't wait to get there and your post gives me lots of hope.

weird-oh,
exactly what i needed to hear as well. retraining a brain that has been so used to the conditioned response of alcohol is not an easy thing to do. for most of us, we did not become alcoholics (for those of us who consider ourselves as such- i am not trying to label anyone) with our first drink. it took lots of drinking. reversing this process also takes time....
thanks for giving me a glimpse of my possible future.
