Hi Sticky, the alcohol interlock device I referred to is a lock that is fitted to your ignition. In order to start your car you have to blow into the device. If there is any alcohol in your breath sample the car won't start. You have to pay to have it fitted, serviced once a month and removed. Your are not permitted to drive a car if it doesn't have an interlock fitted. It collects the readings and these are downloaded after 6 months for presentation to the court when you apply to have the device removed. By the way thank you so much for your post. I read it on Sunday night (didn't get much sleep that night). I fronted court on Monday and had my license cancelled for 16 months but didn't get suspended jail sentence, community service, etc so I probably got the best result I could have hoped for. Good to get it over and done with. Thanks again for your support, look forward to hearing about your 50th birthday preparations and hope your having a good week, Warren.

Hi Sticky.
I wanted to say I hope you and your family are ok from the earthquake, and let you know we are thinking of you all there. This is a MAJOR event and hopefully others will step up to help.
Hang in there.
Dave

Hi Sticky - I thought of you last night when I turned on the news. I didn't know there had been an earthquake in New Zealand. We are all hoping you are okay. Let us know when you have a chance. It should be end of week 12 for you too this week.

Hi Sticky,

I hope you, your family and friends are all okay after the earthquake. My friend's brother married a young lady from NZ last week, but fortunately they are in Australia right now.

We're all praying for you guys. Take care.

Hi everyone

Thanks for your concern about the earthquake. We live in Auckland in the North Island and the earthquake was in Christchurch in the South Island, so my family and I are fine. In September last year another earthquake caused a lot of damage in Christchurch, but miraculously no-one was killed. It was in the middle of the night. The latest one was at lunch time and about 100 are dead and others still missing. I feel sad thinking about it. We took our boys to the South Island in October and many of the buildings we saw in Christchurch including the Cathedral are ruined. We have some friends down there & I spoke to them today. They are OK but a good friend of theirs died. They are staying elsewhere as their home is damaged and without water.
Our local school is offering to billet kids from a school in Christchurch which was badly affected and our school is going to raise money. The father of one of the boys in my older son's class is missing. For such a small country it is a major tragedy.

WJ - thanks for your message and I'm glad my post helped. I was feeling guilty for prattling on & posting while drinking, but it can't have been too bad!

My units were down to only 19 this week, but partly because I got food poisoning. Went to the movies with a friend on Tues night. Was eyeing up the wine but she suggested an ice cream. We went to a Middle East cafe for dinner - no alcohol. At midnight I was up with diarrhoea and I spent half of Wed sleeping. Couldn't face drinking that night. So 2 days where I might have drunk I didn't. Had a couple of nights with just over a bottle of wine, which like I've said before is way too much for me. At least i can function the next day, but I feel quite tired. On Monday we had my book club in a book shop for a change and i only had 2 small drinks. That was after a bottle the night before.

Need to go and cook dinner so will have a go later or in the weekend at getting my graph on here. Also forgot to copy & paste my totals so will do that later too.

Take care all of you

Sticky 8-)

Yeah Sticky (Nicky) - Welcome back. We were all a little concerned about you. I can see you had a great week 12, but sorry about the food poisoning. Still, you are sure making progress. Good for you.

Hi Sticky, those weekly figures are great! If only you could get gastro once a week... Lol. I found I was in a similiar situation yesterday, picked up a virus from my 2 yo and couldn't face the thought of drinking even though it was Saturday night. In the past I would have drunk through this and reasoned to myself that alcohol will help kill the virus. I realise you're from Auckland but Im glad you haven't been directly impacted by the earthquake (ie you didn't know any of the victims personally). We feel for you guys and the victims and their families. Christchurch was such a pretty city, we visited in 2005 on our way down to Queenstown. Such a shame to see that beautiful spire topple. I hope the aftershocks go away soon and the residents can start rebuilding. Anyway, i'm moving off topic, hope you have another great week this week, Warren

Hey Sticky, glad to hear you''re okay and those are great numbers for week 12 even if it is due to food poisoning. Like WarrenJames said, I used to drink when I was sick because I reasoned that the alcohol would kill the bacteria or viruses. I haven't been sick yet while on TSM so i don't know whether I'll still use that excuse.

Hi guys

This has not been a good week and I guess I've been putting off posting as I felt so terrible about my behaviour for a few days. Things have been stressful with our business this week - people not paying on time, issues with jobs and a staff member turning dishonest on us which resulted in an unhappy client. So hubby has been very stressed and I usually tend to take it on board too. On Wednesday I bought a bottle of wine which we shared then I got stuck into hubby's whisky. God knows why - I don't like the taste of it! I was watching TV and I thought hubby was asleep but he came upstairs and told me to turn down the TV and that I was "f-ing up our family". So I did the worst thing I could've done and left (on foot and barefoot!) to get more wine and behave like a bag lady until 2pm the next day. If I hadn't been drunk already I would have realised that hubby was just tired and grumpy and didn't mean what he said. Felt depressed for a couple of days and worked hard in our office on Fri to try and catch up. Thought I might stay AF for a week until my 50th party. Ha ha! But last night we went to a concert (in the rain) at a vineyard and I couldn't resist. At least that didn't end in disaster.
My mum will be coming round tomorrow and is sure to think TSM is not working. I hope she isn't too hard on me - I deserve it if she is...
I hope all of you have had a better week.
The party preparations are under control apart from too many fingers in the pie and my friend who is also turning 50 not trusting our chef friend to get some of the food organised in time! I have been round at my friend's house (party venue) putting up some decorations this arvo. The theme is Chinese New Year/Year of the Rabbit and hopefully most people will get dressed up. I will so need to behave re drinking as hubby's family and my mum will be there. Scary....
We have offered to billet a child from Christchurch affected by the earthquake so may get a boy for a week or two. Our two will need to share a room as we don't have a spare room, but it would be a good thing to do. Our local school had a red & black (Christchurch colours) mufti day and sausage sizzle and raised quite a lot. The whole country has been really supportive as have other countries.

Take care everyone
Sticky :?
