I made my goal for last week of 3 AF days with lower units. The goal is the same this week - 3 AF and knock off another unit or two.

I did my 3 AF days Fri-Sun. I've mostly been doing my AF days on the weekends, but this was the first time I did 3 days straight. I didn't crave a drink at all. I think the naltrexone has largely wiped out the physical addiction. But, after 35 years of daily drinking, "not drinking" doesn't seem normal. Hopefully, as I pile up more AF days, I'll start to reset what normal is.

Pre-TSM, a 1.75 liter bottle of bourbon would only last 3 days (or a little less if there was a weekend in there). I started my current bottle on Feb 1 and there is almost enough left for tonight (Feb 14), although I'll probably pick up a new bottle on the way home. I don't know yet when I'm going to try quitting entirely, but I don't think I have many bottles left to go.

Great progress MLB. You are absolutely inspiring!

I notice that bottles of booze last much longer for me too. I keep the bottle in my room in a place where I see it everyday. Before TSM, this would be too much temptation and the bottle would be gone before I knew it. Now the bottle just sits there most days untouched. Unbelievable to me. It's a sure sign that TSM is working for us.

mlb, I think your's is one of the most remarkable graphs I've seen on the boards. Most of us have had more ups and downs to our graphs. Your progress has been almost linear. You are just above the upper limit of moderate drinking and the AF days have got to feel good. Great stuff.

MLB - What a great graph. Those numbers just keep going down. I see my progress as similar to yours as it is more linear/straight line. Keep posting. It all gives me great hope.

mlb -- I can verify that everyone gets inspiration from your charts -- I read your story on this board prior to starting TSM a week ago. It has good lessons about how we should all have goals for ourselves and try to be somewhat disciplined in our use of this method.
One thing you haven't mentioned is what it is like for you and your wife for you to be having AF days and contemplating quitting drinking. Forgive me if this is something you don't want to talk about (and ignore this post if it is), but I have a similar situation and I wonder how it is working out.
I do not think that my husband is going to quit drinking, but I know he likes it when I drink with him and I don't think he is going to want me to quit entirely. Has this come up between you?

@Amy

I doubt my experience will be of any help to you or anyone else regarding spousal relations, but I don't mind sharing.

I've been married for almost 34 years. I would say we started drifting apart about 23 years ago. At this point we don't have much in common, don't do much together, don't communicate well, and sleep in different rooms. TSM hasn't had any effect on this one way or the other.

My wife was (and is) also a heavy drinker. Pre-TSM, she drank as much as me or maybe a little more. It's hard to say exactly - she is a little less consistent from day to day than I was/am.

When I started TSM, I told her what it was and the theory behind it and that I was going to try it. I don't recall her saying anything in response. Since then, she has not even once asked me how it is going. She has to know that I am drinking less, because she had to start buying her booze (gin) herself, since I was no longer going to the liquor store every 3 days.

My wife spends the evening in the living room drinking, watching TV, and doing whatever on Facebook. She mainly watches shows about weddings, picking wedding dresses, fashion makeovers, and bachelor/bachelorette (what's all that say?). I have no interest in those shows, so I don't spend any time sitting there with her. I mainly spend eveings in my unfinished basement, where I have an office and a den (and where I sleep). I don't watch a lot of TV, but during baseball season, I'll probably have a baseball game on.

This is how it was before TSM and how it still is now. Nothing has really changed about that.

I have to walk through or past the living room to get to the kitchen or the bathroom. Seeing her sitting there drinking doesn't affect me or make me crave a drink. It may help that she is drinking cheap gin, which I don't want to drink anyway.

I can't really judge her for her drinking habits because pre-TSM, I was the same way.

I might leave if I could afford to, but I can't, so I'm stuck. I have no reason to hope that things will improve. I've given up on that and just try to make the best of it.

Good luck with your TSM journey and with your relationship with your husband. Maybe my situation will make you feel better about yours.

mlb -- I am sorry. And I'm sorry to have brought it up. My husband is just a nice old-fashioned guy who wants his wife to make him a nice dinner with wine every night. I don't mind, but me drinking a bottle of wine every night is worse for me than it is for him (tall and thin) to drink a bottle of wine every night. Men just tolerate it better, and it's what he wants to do , but its not what I want to do anymore. That's why I am trying nal rather than going cold turkey. Abstinence is rough when the person you do pretty much everything with continues to drink.

@Amy

No problem - that's just the way it is for me. There's not even any emotion about it any more.

I'm tall and thin, too. I'm the one fixing dinner every day, though.

Major relapse last week! I'm not sure why other than that things were a bit more stressful at home than normal and a drink sounded pretty good. I hope to do better this week.
