Hi.
Well my story is having had over 18 years sobriety with AA, I got bored watching others drinking and got sick of soda, water, perrier, etc. Started having a glass of wine, a few months of that then beers, a few months of those then liquor. Got totally out of control, drinking way too much once I get going. I have been back on drinking now about 3 1/2 years. Pre TSM, somewhere between 8-12 units on drinking days, sometimes more. Lately drinking everyday, starting early in the morning on days off, and going hard all day. So probably about 70-100 units right before TSM.

Started TSM Dec 23, 2010, with 1/2 Nal for the first 2 days, full tab from then on 1 hour before drinking everytime! I have had pretty good results so far, fewer units everyday, but with a few days of all day and late night bingeing. I have had a few AF days without too much trouble.

I have been reading everything here I can, I got the book and read it several times before I was able to get my Nal from River. Thanks for everyone's support and postings. I felt the need to post, to repay the support I have been receiving.
Dave

Hi Dave - glad to see you here. I've not been posting much because I don't really have much new to say - just want to say welcome

I'm doing pretty good even though I do have days when I feel really down, and I do reach for a drink...always take the Nal though...and I can have AF days without much effort.

So keep posting and let everyone know how it goes with you - every single post has great value - we do need to see how others do - gives us confidence and we can certainly relate!!

Hi all. Guess it's about time I updated my progress!
I have definately been better able to moderate my drinking the past few weeks, but I have had a few nights when I really drink hard. I log in at least a couple times a day and appreciate everyone who posts. I am learning alot from my experience as well as everyone else's.

I have had a few AF days and I am now starting to try to have AF days, Mon, Wed, Fri. This is also a part of a diet I am trying again, called "the alternate day diet". This didn't work too good a couple months before I was on TSM, because I was drinking on my diet days lol. So far, it really hasn't been too difficult, I hope I can continue with it.

Welcome to all the new people I see joining! Like they have expressed, I too was amazed when first learning about this. With 18 years sober in AA I had no desire to go back there! I was afraid to believe this might work, but was so excited to think that it might! I am following the rule and through my results so far, and the postings of both cured people and those on their way to being cured, I am truly expecting to get my drinking to the level I choose, be it social or occasional or special occasions or abstinance. I just want to be able to decide and be able to stick with my decision without alcohol controlling me, or hanging over my head like a piano ready to drop on Wiley Coyote! That was kind of like drinking, chasing that damn roadrunner, knowing I was not going to be sucessful, and I was going to cause damage to myself and others.
So keep it up everyone! Please keep posting!
Dave

Great analogy Dave -- chasing the roadrunner. I love to see former AA folks here. I think the day TSM hits the mainstream is the day enough former AAers stand up and say, "TSM worked for me and is legit." It's going to take a long time, but I'm convinced that someday TSM will be the standard treatment and we will all laugh at the days people thought the world was flat.

My best to you.

Minneapolisnick

Just wanted to say that Friday night my wife told me she feels like she is getting me back.
That made me feel real good.
Thanks all.
Dave

I wanted to add another thing. Seems like I will take a Nal expecting to want to start drinking in an hour or so. Then after about an hour I am not really so "committed" to getting started lol. I go ahead and start, and wind up having a few and some times alot. Any one else feel like this? Like the Nal takes away the craving after taking it. I still think I need the extenguishing to be done, so I will continue to drink as planned after taking it. Just an observation.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave, What a lovely thing for your wife to say. I too feel unmotivated to drink after taking the Nal. Not always but last night was an example. Took my Nal and waited my hour. It was a Saturday night and I was just hanging out and I did end up drinking, too much, but I wasn't watching the clock thinking when is the hour up so I can start. It was just more out of habit than physical craving. And that is good.

Wow. I know it's a roller coaster ride but that doesn't make it any easier. I feel terrible today after last night, 3 mixed drinks then 14-12 oz beers, total 17 units. Barely remember the superbowl. Thats the old drinking binge, I hate it. Once I reach a certain point I can't stop. I hope this leads to more extinction and I never go through that again! My numbers for the week WERE looking good lol. I know this is working and I WILL hang in there.
Thanks for being here everyone.
Dave
