I am cured. I've taken my Nal 50mg every time before drinking last 3 months. It is incredible how well this works. I continue to drink frequently, but drink so, so little compared to pre-Nal. Typical night was 12-18 beers, blacking out, and waking up hurting like hell.

I owe everyone on here a big thank you, you were my predecessors and you figured this out before me.

My drinking now is a joke. 3-4 beers and I switch to perrier or whatever. It took away the allure.

Also, and I don't know if this is the Nal itself or the fact that I'm drinking so much less, but I no longer binge eat late after drinking. I don't crave crappy food (as much), so I am losing weight.

How wonderful, thanks for letting us know! I can only guess that you were reading along here, doing your own thing, getting some insight and (for whatever reason) not posting the past few months. Thank you for telling us of your success so we can cheer for you and let others know what is possible. Please do contribute any other observations you have going forward. How old are you?, how long on nal for cure?, and anything else you can share about your journey for others to benefit from. Congratulations and thanks for not being one of the silent majority or minority (we don't really know which one).

Well Vincent I am 40. Been on Nal 3.5 months roughly. I am at a little bit of a loss as to what to contribute, because it is/was so simple. I know I needed a different way of life. The booze was getting the best of me. Nothing really crazy happened like arrests or fights or such, but I just drank too much. Period. My wife was starting to get a little embarrassed that her husband could and would drink 10 times as much as everyone else. The hangovers were killing me more and more as I've aged. Frankly my level of drinking just didn't fit any longer, I needed to seriously tone it down. Or quit.

I tried quitting many times, and physically it wasn't difficult. But I would get excited to go out and watch a game and knock a few down. I needed that social time out at the sports bar. But I know deep down that I socially craved alcohol, not physically. The miracle of the Naltrexone is that I can be a normal drinker and have a few drinks with everyone but quit long before I get wasted. So far it has worked. I recently went on a trip with other couple, the kind of trip where heavy drinking is the norm, and it just didn't happen. I would give the beers back to the server with 1/3 left in them. I maybe drank a total of 10-12 beers over four nights. Before Nal it could have easily been 10 plus beers per night.

I think I was surfing through Amazon one night and entered "alcohol" and somehow found Sinclair. The method seemed so weird at the time, I think I skimmed it and forgot about it. Somehow it reappeared to me via the internet somehow and I read more. I really became interested as I read. I decided to order Nal and get the book and to be brutally honest I only barely skimmed the book. Normally I read and reread everything when I'm "into" something. I don't know, this time I didn't need to. I just took the 50mg an hour before. That's it. After a couple of drinks...it just fades. That desire flattens. It's like eating ice cream without it hitting your palate. You're eating, and perhaps filling your stomach, but you're not getting the little high you get from eating something naughty, so to speak. Dumb example probably, but it's how I see it. Thanks again everyone, happy to answer any future questions. I'm still new to this, but it's been great.

Thanks Nobooze, your story sounds very familiar. We are wired different from everyone else aren't we? 3.5 months is great. When this works it's really works. Please give us an update in a few months if you can and thanks for coming forward.
