grrrr!. higher units the last few days. feeling really crappy with allergies... logically i know that al won't make me feel better, but there is this illogical part of my brain that is convinced that al is exactly what i need. same with getting over stress. have had a very sick elderly dog these last few days, she's turned her nose up at food for the first time ever in her life. multiple trips to the vet, i think she's on the mend, but again my brain tells me that al will make all of those worried feelings disappear.
i have said no to one more tonight (after having more than i would like) even though i really really want one more, just because i am afraid of a bad nal hangover tomorrow. again, grrrr!
hopefully i will post a more reasonable recap of last week later.

wk 24- 48 units.
i am noticing a pattern, monday for some reason usually ends up being 5 units, and sat & sun are higher as i am still having a hard time not having a couple in the afternoons on the weekend. it's funny that i feel so differently on the weekend, because for me everyday is the weekend really, as i don't work.
early in the week it didn't feel like as much effort to keep the units down which is good, but later in the week i succumbed to stress and 7-8 units a day. i know that pre-tsm these likely would have been 12 unit days, so i guess it is progress. 8-)

i am happy to report that my dog was willing to eat today and that makes me feel much better. :D i was so worried about having to leave for thanksgiving when she was so ill. she still is not her old self, but seems to be on the mend.

keep up the great progress everyone,
path

almost a whole day at the specialty vet for tests on the dog who i guess is not on the mend after all.  since she did pretty well today and was eager to eat this evening, i am still planning on heading out tomorrow for a few days for thanksgiving. my poor dog sitter has the longest list of instructions for giving meds etc, and i feel so bad about leaving my dog that i may still cancel and stay home.
at least i am not drinking myself silly to avoid the stress of waiting for the verdict on what is wrong with her, (potentially very bad news that could come tomorrow or not til monday).
anyway, in case i do go, i'll be a way from a computer so i just wanted to say happy thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate the holiday, and cheers and all the best to everyone else.
:)

Hi PATH,

I was just going to lurk an read tonight but had to give you my thoughts during these tough times as I am an animal lover as well and read your post. I pray for some good news.

I have two elderly cats and they seem to be fine but I know there will be a day (we had a very close call last year). So I say this to let you know that I will be thinking of your sweet girl and you as well.

Your posts are inspirational to many.. My Best, Jim

Path I can empathize with your dog situation. mine has had seizures lately, more trips to emergency vets, neurologists, etc. ad nauseum and they can't find anything wrong with him. he's just old. I guess he's fading on me. the first time he almost died I really took it hard, the second time I was more used to the idea that it won't be long. all I can say is cherish the time you have with her and let her know how loved she is. it'll all happen the way it's supposed to. good luck
