Hooray! I'm liberated from the mistruths, threats, and brainwashing of AA for over a month now. To think of all the time, money and effort I've wasted. All of the asinine conversations with sponsors and others. All the guilt and awkwardness. I could go on, but I'll try not to dwell on the past; instead I'll concentrate on how glad I am to have found something that works minus all the nonsense. Since I will not be picking up a "chip" for this milestone, how should I celebrate? Substances still are not appropriate. Maybe lunch at my favorite Indian restaurant.

Coldone,....two things

1) If you do have a few too many (always AFTER taking NAL) don't worry. How many schmos do you hear weekly that AREN'T alcoholics talking about having too many. We all have too many,...but as alkies we did it daily (or bingely as you weirdo's talk about......wow...a day without booze)

2) Please realize that this is revolutionary and we need your support especially when we have a convention coming soon when I can make a bunch of us agree to a location on the EARTH...Best Jim

Disclaimer....A little home grown but not the genetic stuff. Just good ol 70's.................. or 80's without the implications

Most religions use guilt to keep their members in line, and AA is no exception. That's why it's such a relief to find a place like this, where no one is judged and even backsliders are accepted, although perhaps with a bit of tough-love encouragement. As far as celebrating milestones, I highly recommend Archer's Windmill Cookies with a milk chaser.

No,...But this is what gets me excited,.....Everyone wants to have one,...but we have to have enough cured folk that can walk and talk the talk so as not to have my sorry 1 year 2 or 3 month ass still drinking at a rather heavy rate.

I think one of the old timers said that as I was clammouring for it and had to concede as it does us no good not to have a few hundred cured.

What I was suggesting at the time was a media blitz as well. I realize there has been Newsweek and TV etc,...but specifically The Sinclair Method forum has not really exposed and this forum needs to be promoted. Sooooo,...maybe we should rebump the convention thread. I do it every 6 months or so. I am always thinking stateside but realize there are many folks from around the world,...So again,...I always push for FLorida as its warm in the winter and as I age, I like heat more than cold......Best, Jim :D

Coldone, I'm not sure as far as what Jim and Weird-Oh are talking about, I say keep it simple and go for Ice Cream!! or Indian food works too (yum). Just glad you're still here. ;)

Sounds good to me. I'm a freelance journalist, so I could even cover it. I've been trying to think of a good market for an article about TSM, but frankly, I've been hesitating because my own recovery has been so spotty. Much of it is my own fault; as I mentioned in another thread, I've been forgetting my Nal. But I guess my own experience shouldn't stop me, considering all the others out there who have been cured. And I know it's important to get the word out. I stumbled on this forum while researching baclofen, which didn't work for me at all.

Maybe AARP: The Magazine would be interested. They're ridiculously hard to get into, but maybe lightning will strike. I'll see if I can work up a proposal after I get a couple of close deadlines out of the way.
