Joe of course,

Hug your sweet older puppy. I would do the same if my darling Haley was still with me :(

I made the mistake of opening one of my husband's New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc's and can I say YUCK!! I know this is a popular Kiwi choice but I found myself wanting to pour it out. Maybe TSM has limited me but I find I am attracted to the most dry, easy to drink white wines. Anything else is almost hard to stomach. I used to drink red wines regularly and can't anymore. Again, I take this as a good sign. I used to be able to suck down heavy liquor or pretty much anything that would give me a buzz... now I can only stomach more mild and simple beverages. Sadly, I've even mixed my basic wine with a bit of seven up or sierra mist!!! Truly, I'm glad that my taste is limited!!

I just find it so surprising that I think it is worthy of comment!!! Best to all!! BTDT

Terrific weekend update. Friday AF which made for a great day Saturday. Then Saturday we took the kids to a Bulls game and had 1 lite beer - yes, one!! Went home and might usually want to have something at home but decided I was tired so I went to bed at 11:00. The best part is that it wasn't a struggle. I wasn't jonesing for more. Today is Halloween and I get to have the day without a hangover. Yippee!! BTDT

So funny as NZ Sauv Blanc is the ONLY white wine I love to drink, has been for years (Kim Crawford, Nobilo, Villa Maria, etc.). I usually can't stand Pinot Grigio (flabby), Chardonnay (yech oak reminds me of tacky American suburbanites unless it's a $60 bottle of Cakebread), and other French & Italian whites can be a crap shoot unless you really know what you're getting. But I pay $18 for a bottle of Crawford as opposed to $8 for a bottle of Matua Valley so I've been happily livin' in da Valley these days!

Hi all,

TSM is kicking in!!! This week feels like I have turned a corner and I'm back on the upswing. I was able to have 2 days AF, 1 day with only one drink and the other days drinking more than healthy levels but very much under control. My total units = 41. I am back in the honeymoon territory. It was nice to feel like I was making the decisions. My AF days weren't hard and I spent more days riding my horse than in my bed recovering :) The week started with a daytime drinking day but the rest of the week was nighttime only!!! Yeah!!!

For anyone who is doubting TSM - just hang in there. I've noticed the worse days are followed by the best days. I know I still have a ways to go and the roller coaster will continue to go both up and down. But, I am definitely seeing a change in the power AL has over me.

Thank you to everyone who has offered me support. I am so grateful I didn't throw in the towel. Hugs to all. BTDT

Glad to hear. Hopefully this is the beginning of your new relationship with alcohol :)

Great news, I too always thought that after the highest units days there were days when I felt like I had real progress.

Long may it last.

Awesomely awesome! From some of the other sites I've seen they've really bashed NAL/TSM. It seems like most people miss the boat in realizing that it does take time to work, and there will always be people (as with anything else) that it doesn't work for. It's so valuable that people like you take the time to continue to post your progress--I don't know if I would have stuck with it so faithfully if I didn't have this site as a source of support and information.

Great news, BTDT! And I have noticed the same thing. I have a really big spike, then I hit the lowest units ever, immediately afterward. It is almost as the addiction is making some valiant, last ditch efforts to win. Then, something changes at the neurological level and you move closer to healthy levels.

StJude's comment makes me wonder what sites are bashing TSM? I agree, I think what people don't understand is that it takes a long, long time and that it doesn't work for everyone. But why bash something that DOES work for some people? Oh well, what matters is how it works for us, not what anyone else says about it.

Hugs :D :D :D
