I know there's info on this somewhere here. I am just curious as to how many of you did a "cold turkey" on a benzo? I will be cold turkeying it very soon. Cannot cut back. No moe refills. I do have something for some of the symptoms. My Dr. was kind enough to do that for me. What are your' experiences w/this? And what were your' worst symptoms. Be honest, I can take it.
Thanks in advance, JANE

WEll if you are going cold turkey "soon" Why couldn't you start taking half of what you take now until you are out? Or are you already out? That way you'd wean off a bit. All I k now is Benzos are one of the hardest substances to come off of. I doubt you are on enough of it to really have the severe stuff. I used to be on ativan and all I remember is I drank my ass off when I was coming off of them. So you could do some extincting while you're at it. Hope this helps and good luck

Joe, I have enough to wean a few days. But what symptoms did you experience? Will I need a barf bag & close proximity to a terlit?? I've done other meds cold, but the gereal concess is benzo's are the worst. I've been on Ativan, 2mgs. 3x a day for quite a long time. How long before they subside?? Do they rip your stomach out? I could lose a few llbs., but....
And didn't alcohol make your' symptoms worse?? HELP!
JANE :?

hey jane,
i hear that you are nervous about what might happen with the withdrawl, but my question is, doesn't your doc know? would he/she really expect you to go cold turkey if it could be a really horrible deal for you? i hope not. perhaps a call to your doc might ease your mind a bit?
i don't have any experience with med withdrawls but i do have experience with anxiety and two things i have found helpful in the past are GABA (a supplement that hits the same receptors in the brain as benzo's) and magnesium, there's a product called "natural CALM". both of these may help with jittery anxious feelings. maybe these might help right now to calm your nerves about what's to come ;)
wishing you an easy (and successful) time with all this, :D

Thanks Path, Yes my Dr. knows. He has given me a very low dose of Elavil 3x a day & low dose Clonadine 1-2 at bedtime. I guess he figured if I could cold turkey oxycontin( BTW he did not prescrbe, was another Dr) I certainly could do this one. See, with me everything has always been a "balls to the wall thing". All or nothing. Personality defect probably.
Thanks for the input Path
ALWAYS, JANE :?
