Thanks, pacificman.

It has been all up for the last couple of weeks, with my unit count rising to 122.4. I suppose we have to keep reminding ourselves that the process usually takes months to reach it's conclusion.

I was all excited when I saw your units posted, in a completely selfish way because I have yet to see on this forum anyone who drank as much as I did weekly), but then I realized they were UK units, which more closely approximate my current weekly goal
But, I have to say in my incessant perusing of the posts on this site, I seem to notice a common trend (haven't run it through SPSS or anything) of extremely heavy drinkers like myself who experience a post TSM-drop in weekly consumption which may jump around a bit but still remains lower than pre-TSM weekly consumption units; as opposed to people like you who are more moderate and/or binge problem drinkers who may experience spikes & valleys in weekly consumption but are more likely to be negatively affected by the spikes since they are atypical and it doesn't seem like a spike should be occurring in a successful treatment program (the bottom line is that it ultimately is successful for MOST who stick with it)

I think you are right. People just have to stick to it. To me it seems that with anything there is always a few weeks of enthusiasm, followed by impatience because I can't just jump straight to the end goal.

How much is a UK unit compared to a US unit again?

I believe UK units are smaller amounts compared to US units. I know I saw this posted in an earlier forum (and I defer to resident mathematician/conversion expert Nutella) but on pp 114-115 of the Eskapa book there is a U.S. drinking measure chart and an International chart. SInce I was educated in US schools and even though I have a Ph.D. I'm a dunce when it comes to the metric system I'll defer to someone with better sense of the comparison (siren song to my beloved chocolately hazelnut spread)

The units question has come up numerous times so I posted this in Sept. http://www.thesinclairmethod.net/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1898&p=22066&sid=57286bd2e610c8065e4b713310961bf3&sid=57286bd2e610c8065e4b713310961bf3#p22066
Short answer 1 US unit=1.77 UK units

Thanks St Vinny--why is everything bigger in the U.S.?

It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted, so to update things...

Week 4 saw a reduction to 111.5, and then in the middle of week 5 I switched from 500ml cans of beer to 330ml bottles of beer, and I found that I was less inclined to drink as much, which caused my week 5 total to be 84.15. At times I even stopped drinking earlier than usual because I wasn't enjoying it. During the last four days or so I have been drinking less, to the point where I haven't felt particularly drunk at any point.

This could just be another trough in the grand scheme of things, but I am feeling pretty good about TSM at the moment. :)

Hey Lucky Star,
It sounds like TSM is working for you. I'm seeing similar trends in my drinking and I definitely feel that it's working for me.

Do you think the change from cans to bottles had anything to do with how the beer tastes or your level of consumption, or just that fact that they are smaller? I hope that doesn't seem like a silly question, but I find that I do drink less (or at least more slowly) when I use a cheap little 6 oz wine glass as opposed to my crystal goblets that easily fit a half bottle of wine with a reasonable looking pour.
Regardless, you are seeing good, albeit slightly inconsistent, progress. I appreciate some of the veteran forum members who posted their results over 6-12 months-it really helps to see how jumpy an eventual downward trend can appear from week to week. Not so much fun to actually live it!
