Just adding my support to you Goodman. As they said,....Alcoholism is no joke. We're all brave here, trying to be lighthearted but the fact remains. These liquid handcuffs suck.

You hang in there and know that there are at least 100 people here that would give you you a big hug and hang in there if we were to do these meetings in person,...just no dogma. The only thing here is to respect and genuinely as best as we know how to support and offer suggestions as we learn on the ride.

I hope this finally squashes any weirdness you have with the board. And mind you,...as you ride the rollercoaster, we don't always agree with each other.

There used to be a spot called teh boxing ring, where people could scream and yell and disagree in a friendly way,...but I think its been under utilized or lost for lack of use.....

Hang tight Goodman,...Sorry hijack Bob, Best, Jim

I haven't been to my own thread for weeks and was surprised to find pages of posts that I just read today. Since the posts are weeks old, I'll pass on answering the questions since they are likely answered elsewhere.

I'm posting today because after 10 weeks AF, I decided to do the "AA nightmare" - the first drink after a period of abstinence. It is way different under TSM, than under AA. As expected after a TSM cure, I had two beers after my Naltrexone and that was it; I didn't want any more. Since then, I haven't wanted any alcohol (obviously the craving is extinguished). I told my psychiatrist that when I had those 2 beers, the taste reminded me of the first beer I had as a teen, in other words, not so good. I haven't had a drink or the desire to have one since. No surprise to me, but likely to be shocking to a 12-stepper. No death spiral back to alcoholism; Just one "last" TSM treatment and a personal validation to me that I am in fact fully cured.

I hope that everyone has this kind of success.

Bob

This is great to read. Glad you survived the "nightmare" and the "four horsemen"
Thanks for elling us about this. it helps more than you know.

Thought you might like this info too: Eskapa's promise to post the updated database came to fruition. 2muchwine posted the studies as Eskapa had sent them in the Sinclair Method questions section here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1967
I'd love to hear what you make of these studies. there are several double blind placebo trials in there.

Sadly, JamesCT turned and ran as soon as Eskapa entered the conversation (even though Eskapa promised to be back soon with the updated clinical trial database) and we haven't seen him here since. I would've liked to have seen his take on these studies, but alas....I guess he really didn't want answers. Sadder than that, Goodman disappeared in the middle of that thread as well. it was titled "re: proof for TSM. Sinclair's response" or something like it. hope he's ok.

Did Orange ever respond to your letters Bob? because today i read his responses to some TSM related emails. I believe the emailer to be goodmanonce. it is here http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-letters192.html scroll down past the gosling pic. maybe you already saw this, i don't know. just thought you might like to check these things out. :)

EDIT: I found where he addressed your email. http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-letters197.html if you hadn"t already seen it

Well, while others continue to debate TSM's efficacy, as is their right of course, I'll just go ahead and post my Monthly Progress Graph, since I've completed Month 19 on TSM. There's no doubt that TSM has worked for me and I never believed that it would until it did and it has continued to do so.

Only 2 more months and I will stop posting. No proselytizing of this method for me. I will be moving on with my life.

Bob

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Bob! I am at almost 5 months now, and seeing very positive incremental changes. But I am not there yet ... I definitely have ups and downs, week to week. Seeing your graph gives me hope that this really is working over the long term. Glad to hear you are well!

Take care,
YG

I too thank you Bob. Haven't had much contact with you but I've been following your progress too. You'll never know how many lives you've touched here. Certaintly more understanding from anything else I or others here have tried. You are an inspiration. I will never say "luck" because you worked for this & you worked hard! Posting everyday, asking & answering many questions for us all. I wish you the very best life has to offer. Seize every opportunity!
Don't know ya but Love Ya Anyway

I appreciate the kudos from everyone :D , but I just took my Naltrexone 1 hour before I drank and never deviated. Everything else was "fluff" in a way. I asked questions. I answered questions when I could.

Other than that, StJude, even Moses eventually died and wasn't around to lead the children of Israel anymore. Joshua took over that role and led them into the Promised Land.

Bob,

Before you head off to live your life ;), I need to let you know how much you've help with my 8 week TSM experience.

Your story, your presence, your voice and of course your graphs have helped me more than you know. I've even gone back and read quite a bit of your thread which documents your experience here. Being able to see the struggles and the pitfalls you've had along the way have helped me weather the rough patches I've had so far. Hearing you describe them makes them seem like just part of the journey. I didn't even realize how damaging my AA experience was in many ways and I hope that TSM can do for me what it has done for you.

With gratitude, BTDT
