I know how that is! I can only drink the tastiest stuff these days. Namely, Guiness and Woodchuck Cider black and tans. and Southern Pecan nut brown ale. I never bought hard cider before, but it is refreshing. Seems like I have extincted cheap beer and brown liquor.

nice to not want to drink crap

Congratulations.

I am waiting on my nal, but reading some of this stuff is pretty hard to believe. I quit drinking for the taste a long time ago, now I just drink vodka and that's because its cheap and gets the job done. And by that I mean it keeps the withdrawals away if I drink enough for me to be functional during the day.

Peace,

Rob

Well Rob, you have every reason to be optimistic! There is only two requirements from you: 1. That you are always covered by the effects of Nal when you are drinking 2. That you willing to wait 3-6 months to see a change. Its highly likely that you will be completely cured of alcoholism if you follow fulfill these requirements! :D
Its so worth it though, I am happy that you made it here- you are amongst a very small percentage who do :!:

Sinclair insists: "We want to be clear that we are not encouragin patients to drink very large quantites at one time. Large volumes of alcohol do not help (do not hasten the de-addiction process) and can be dangerous. But drinking frequenly while on naltrexone is beneficial since each time drinking is extinction session."

Thanks for restating this - I think it is important and I had forgotten it. That tells me we should be encouraging each other to drink when we feel like it (with Nal, of course) but trying to moderate as best we can when we ARE drinking.

As a side note, back to comments earlier in this thread, most red and white wine taste terrible to me now. Cheap white has been my favorite for years, and now I have a hard time drinking it at all. Weird! I may have to try better wines now that I am drinking less, or try something else, or (gasp!) quit altogether. ;)

Yeah, this is a great treatment for alcoholism: Drink as often as possible! Might crack one open soon (in an hour) 8-)

It is quite a decadent feeling to be able to drink without guilt, AND have the sense one can control it (I was drinking so much pre-TSM that my numbers didn't have much place else to go but down ;) )
