YG, yeah, I count I bottle of wine as 5 glasses too. As long as we're consistent in doing that in tracking our own progress it's all good.

We have fairly large glasses too, but I find myself pouring less at a time and it takes me longer to drink it. I now really notice my husband though, who will pour 1/3 of a bottle as his first 'glass' and it now shocks me. He kills a bottle so much faster than me now. And when we eat out, when we'd order a bottle of wine I'd always be watching it like a hawk and want to make sure he didn't get more than me and could never leave with anything left in my glass. Now a lot of times I can barely drink two full glasses and I've actually found myself pouring some of mine into his glass so we can finish and leave.

LOL ... oh, that is me too! Watching like a hawk, because what if I don't get enough? Seems like those days are fading for a lot of us though, yippeeee! :D :D :D

p.s. Sorry for hijacking, StJude!

Not hijacking at all YG! talk about watching the pours like a hawk--me around a wine bottle at dinner was like a raptor eyeing its prey.
I used to resolve that problem by making sure I had a least a bottle or so in me before going out to dinner; and I wonder how I built up such an amazing tolerance  I needed to drink at least a bottle to feel normal, and two bottles to feel buzzy, which is how two glasses used to make me feel before I made excessive drinking a full time job. Me trying to "unload" my wine in my girlfriend's wine glass on Thursday was a totally new phenomenon. I felt mildly guilty about that, but she was so happy to have the lion's share. We're usually like two pack members competing for the same tasty morsel

Wow-I'm so glad I made it through my first week so I can stop annoying everyone (especially the veterans on this forum) with nauseating details of each moment of every day's progress. I close out my first TSM/NAL week with 52 units (1 bottle of wine = 6 units). Although this may seem like high intake to some, to put things in perspective my pre-TSM weekly average was 126 units (could be higher, rarely lower). So, not only have I experienced a more than 50% reduction in my alcohol intake, I've also had one of the best weeks of my lives. Everything that seemed so wrong in the world suddenly looks much more hopeful--not perfect, but I have hope for the first time in years. Things are going better with my boyfriend, I'm clearheaded and more productive at the university I teach at, and I just finished conducting a grueling 9 hour training for work today and received some of the best teaching evaluations I ever have (surprise, I do a much better job when I'm not hung over). I'm not naive or unrealistic of the long road ahead, but I owe a debt of gratitude to the many of you who took the time to offer specific information, support, and feedback on my posts. One week in and I look forward to being apart of the TSM community for life :D

St Jude,

Congrats on a successful first week!! You aren't annoying anyone. It really helps to have those glimpses into all stages of life with TSM. I need to be reminded of those early (and continued) positive experiences. Even if things go up and down, it helps keeps me on course. I too was fortunate enough to have a great initial experience and it made it easier for me to sign on :)

Kudos on your teaching evaluation!! You'll be able to teach others about TSM in the future.

I am so glad you had a wonderful week and I look forward to hearing more!! BTDT

StJude, I'm so happy about your success this first week and wanted to let you know that your posts are not annoying at all. I love reading all the details to compare to my own experiences since I'm new also.

Thanks BTDT and Tambo-I'm enjoying following your progress too. Blogging on this site is very therapeutic for me, and I really like following everyone's posts. I'm actually out of money as of today and don't get paid til Wednesday, so after I finish up my leftover wine from last Thursday night I may have debt-induced AF day or two. There's nbothing like being broke to interfere with a drinking habit

Hey St Jude, GREAT first week. Congratulations. 
I laughed when I read your last post "forced AFs due to lack of funds". While that's not all that funny... It reminded me how much I used to spend on wine.

I've booked a holiday with hubby and kids to states next year... And believe it or not... My wine habit $ and my hubbys cigarette $ is paying for the whole thing. ($20,000 NZ - roughly $15,000 US!!!!!).

Youll be wondering where your extra cash is coming from before you know it! 

I look forward to your next update. Have another great week.

Kiwi.

Hey StJude,

Don't worry, you are NOT annoying, sharing our experiences is what this site is all about! Please keep posting the details. Congratulations your first week, you are on the way to freedom.

BTW - do you post over at SmartRecovery? I used to try sobriety there (under Darshana) and went there to post info about Naltrexone yesterday. I saw a post from StJude there ... is that you? Looks like they don't want any information about drug therapy there.

Have a great second week! YG
