YG: I am glad I found TSM before they got old enough to notice. ;)
Kiwi: thank god we found TSM before they are too old to realize mummy has a problem. :-)

Boy, that one. My kids are almost 10 and 7. I started seriously trying to get a handle on this 2 years ago after some really bad incidents - two of which my kids witnessed and were told mommy was really sick. one of them I was incapacitated in a bathroom at a wedding. Nice right? So my kids were a big motivator to try to stop this. Back then I actually went to a 3 day detox and an 8 week program (3 nights a week). I could never get into the AA thing of course and sobriety lasted about 2 months. I was sober for Christmas and back on drinking by New Years.

Anyway, glad I found TSM and started me on my new journey. I can say I haven't done anything like that in front of my kids again since starting on the NAL and only had the one regrettable time at my reunion this summer. So I hope this works. Besides not wanting them to think mom is a drunk, I was having this deep fear that one day my kids were going to say something to a teacher or other parent about my drinking. It's looking more optimistic like that won't ever happen.

Take care,

Illuminae

Hey Illumnae,

Sounds like we've all had regrettable moments - especially when it comes to our kids. I'm thrilled to say I have NOT had any 'Incidents' since starting TSM .... and I'm convinced those days are gone forever. This (more than anything else) makes this journey the most important in my life. I wish you all the very best in your TSM journey. I'm glad u found it ... And glad u found the group on this site. Theyre all bloody amazing.

Hey on another note I had a great thing happen today. I've said before that the only place u can get Nal in New Zealand is thru the alcohol and drug addiction programme- Well I visited there again today and saw their psych... I told him all about TSM and he is going to look into it. He also said I cam continue to get my script thru them indefinitely. Wahooooooooooo. I'm so lucky - it's fully subsidized.

Onto my second AF in a row. Phew... After last week I need a few AFs. But only if they're EASY.

Catcha
Kiwi.

Lucky you on the subsidised prescription. It would be so much easier if everyone could just get Nal through their family doctor, rather than having to pay for expensive private doctors or having to order over the internet.

Hey Kiwi.,

That is GREAT news, on two levels. First that you that you have access to Nal and it is subsidized. :D :D :D But also that you are successfully spreading the word among health professionals. The more of us that can do that, the more this treatment will become mainstream. Fantastic!

Have a great week ... if it is easy, and I think it will be, I want to be mostly AF this week. I look forward to seeing your AF days pile up too!

Hugs, YG

Hey Path,

Thanks for checking on me. I'm doing ok. I hvnt checked the site for weeks. I'll update my numbers later today.

For the last 12.5 years I've worked for largest executive recruitment company in NZ... And 5 of us have broken away and are starting up in competition. Very exciting... And very scary. The last few weeks have consisted of many lawyers meetings.... Hence my brain has been preoccupied. I have had my nal every time I've had a drink. Some recent weeks I've had higher levels than I would like. But not at pre tsm levels.

Hope everyone is tracking well.... Ive got lots of reading to do to catchup.

Kiwi. :)

It is week 24 for me - that's six months on TSM...and while I am not cured yet, I am very happy with my progress. Al is not the focus of my life anylonger. I can still have a big night with friends...but these are planned...and are infrequent - rather than EVERY night - as it was pre TSM.

I have had some big career changes recently and have not been at all focussed on TSM. I have taken my pill an hour before I have had a drink; and I have continued to record my intake...but that's as much focus TSM has had for the last 5 weeks.....hence my lack of contact on the board. THis change in focus has been good; it has allowed me to see exactly what would happen when I am not "Consciously" thinking about TSM every minute. There were a few VERY stressful weeks where my numbers were higher than I would like.....but it has settled back down again. Looks like I have plateaued at about 22 unts per week for the moment. (These are UK units ....so equivalent to just under 3 bottles of wine per week - as opposed to the 7 - 10 bottles per week I was consuming pre TSM) If this is as good as it gets, then I am happy. However I do think I will make further progress.

Hope everyone is well.

Regards
Kiwi. :)

Kiwi, glad to hear AL continues to fade into the background for you. It sounds like we are in a similar place. You are about 6 weeks ahead of me in TSM and I have watched your progress with interest. You seem to have a healthy attitude about drinking. Best wishes for continued success.

Hey Thx St Vincent. :P

Late sunday afternoon in New Zealand... About to start the weekly ironing. Uggh. Usually I have a couple of wines while doing ironing... But don't have the urge today.

Going AF for fifth night this week.

Final numbers for week 13.5 UK units and 5 AF.
Pretty happy with that (even if the consumption on the 2 nights I drank was higher than I'd like)

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Kiwi. :D
