Hello all.

This is my first post here, and I intend to keep a diary of my experience on Naltrexone, so that I have something to look back on, and so that other people can know what to expect. Before starting the method, my weekly intake was 140 UK units.

I took 50mg of Naltrexone an hour before my first beer today, and I have to say that it feels very strange. It feels like I have most of the same feelings I would usually have when drinking alcohol, but I don't really get that feeling of my enthusiasm and energy being boosted - I suppose that is the euphoria that people usually describe. I also noticed that I didn't down the first beer within a couple of minutes like I usually do.

Intresting stuff.

I'll aim to update this thread once a week, or whenever I get round to it.

Thanks for the great forum!

Welcome, Lucky Star and congratulations on getting started! I think many of us here are finding that TSM really does work, it just takes time. Often much longer than the 3-4 months stated in the book.

Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. Assk questions and look for support here. There are so many kind, bright people here who have experienced the same pain and difficulty of alcohol addiction over the years.

Posting here and keeping a detailed log is very helpful, and you are right, it will help when you want to look back at where you have been.

Good luck and keep posting!

YG

I find keeping an intake diary on this site is especially helpful. I'm single with no kids so I'm posting updates almost every night, but I think most find keeping weekly posts reasonable and helpful-I look forward to following your journey with the method :)

Lucky Star,

Welcome aboard!! Fasten your seatbelt (and keep your arms and legs inside the car) LOL !!

I'll be interested to hear how you respond to TSM. Keep posting and ask any and all questions. The folks on this board have a wealth of information and can offer support and experience. Take care, BTDT

Thanks, guys.

My first impressions are that it's kind of difficult to drink the amount of beer I usually would, because it just doesn't taste the same. I have tried non-alcoholic beer before, and I always thought that the lack of alcohol made it taste not as nice, but now I realise that it was the lack of buzz that made it not taste as nice, because a Heineken now kind of tastes like an alcohol-free beer to me.

The change in the experience of drinking has meant that I have consumed 7 UK units a day, rather than my usual 15-20. This may just be the honeymoon period that I have seen lots of others talk about, but it's encouraging anyway.

Hey LuckyStar,

Welcome!!! I find my alcohol of choice (white wine) tastes awful too... But it's a new phenomenon for me... Rather than something that happened in the first week.

Read lots of posts on this board and you'll find everyone has a slightly different (and sometimes vastly different) journey.... But the end goal is certainly achievable for most. There are lots of people on this board who are hvg great success - so even if the great week you have just had proves to be the 'honeymoon' - don't get discouraged if your numbers go up and down for a while. It's all part of the 'fun'. :)

I look forward to reading about your progress.

Kiwi. :)

Hey Lucky Star. Sounds like you're having some success with nal so far. I can't believe how many new people are joining this board. Looks like I joined at the right time. Good luck and welcome.
