Don't encourage me Joe.
2 weeks in.
Still not keeping tabs or records but today for the first time, alcohol was different.
I had a martini today at my local bar,my first drink since last Saturday.
It tasted like very watered down vodka so I handed it to my husband for a taste and he put on the Yikes face,Thats Vodka.
I've had 5 more since then plus half pint of guinness.
I feel great,I'm on my 2ND gigantic glass of wine now coz that's what I do when I'm on the Computer so I'm killing 2 habits with one stone.

Finally, a fellow binger

I drink F and/or Sat nights only (usually). 8-20 units/week. You can take a look at my thread to see that my units have not gone down at all, but I'm not really trying to cut down, simply taking the NAL and going for extinction. Maybe it's an excuse to simply drink more without guilt, but that's what I'm doing.

I've been taking NAL since January. I'm thinking that it may take longer to hit extinction since I'm drinking infrequently. I'm interested in your progress and will try to follow the board. Thank you for your comments. The board is mostly daily or close to daily drinkers. It's good to have a fellow binger to compare notes with. :D Welcome! :!:

Hi spinedoc,I seem to be drinking more than ever since starting Nal,maybe subconsciously I'm drinking more thinking progress will happen faster.
So anyway,I really need to start keeping a definite record of units but it seems to be about the same if not more as pre nal.
Still I'm not discouraged,no more SE's so it doesn't hurt to take the pill before drinking.I'm just not going to over think it anymore.
There are a few binge drinkers on the board who have been cured in a lot less than a year so I guess you never know when you will turn a corner.
I'll be keeping an eye on your progress.
Cheers Phoenix

Hey Phoenix and Spinedoc,

Fellow binger here! Not sure if it will take longer, as I also just started a couple weeks ago as well. I sure do notice less compulsion for now. 3 weekends gone by and feeling great so far.

Only thing I'm really expecting right now is a return to a very heavy drinking session at some point when the honeymoon fades. Other than that, im staying the course, and enjoying getting some insight from guys and girls like you.

I'm drinking about the same as when I started in Jan 2010. The difference is I'm not putting any attention on cutting back and no worry or attention on alcoholism developing. Wondering if I should crank up the dosage to 75 or 100mg. I'm 6', 198 lbs :|

Pre tsm 8-20 beers/wk, same now. Occasional severe hangovers on as little as 4 beers! :o

20 beers each of the last 2 weekends, and didn't feel right until Weds of this wk :(

Very happy to hear of fellow bingers! I was flying solo here for quite a while and some members were wondering why I was even here. Good to have company, and glad to be part of the entire group.

It is so wonderful to hear from other bingers.
I had some wine earlier and it tasted like wine,so I had lots more.I was a little disappointed with that because when I drank Vodka last weekend,it tasted like water and so I thought whats the point.Nahhhh just switch to Captain Morgan and diet coke, big buzz.

Really,do we have to extinguish every drink?

My situation is that I love the pub/bar scene, love parties and I love talking shite.
However,it has caused too much pain and misery over the years
It's a habit and I'm no longer the happy drunk,I am nowadays the Bitch from hell when I drink.
I hate it.

Still not counting units.Today I had a glass of wine with dinner and could not finish it.I don't even know why I ordered it because I didn't fancy a wine.In fact,I was feeling sick at the thoughts of wine so I left it.Now here's the strange part. It's a little family run restaurant and when my glass of wine arrived I noticed it was a little short but I didn't mind,in fact I was happy about that coz I knew it would be an effort to drink it,I took a couple of sips and much later one deep drink of it.
There wasn't much left in the glass but I knew I would not finish it and that was my first drink in 2 days, then the manager came over with the bottle topping up my glass saying something about not finding the cork screw earlier,I thanked him payed my bill and left without touching that glass. That is a first in my book.
So then I crossed the road to a bar where my husband and friends were,I ordered a vodka/soda which went down fine so had a second when all of a sudden we heard some sirens outside,we went outside to investigate, just some police cars on a chase but the thing is that I stayed outside chatting for 15 minutes without a drink in hand and no desire for one.Always I would have gone back inside and either stayed there or brought my drink out side.It felt great. I had one more vodka and now am home having a beer.
Guys,I feel its working.
