Week 15.    12 units 5 AF

It's getting easier all the time. Stoked with the count this week. First time in probably 20 years I've had 5 al free days.

Don't want to jinx anything.... But feeling like I am a normal drinker again. Went to a function on Friday night only had a couple of wines and drove home. If this continues I'm going to save thousands in taxi fairs!

I'm feeling pretty guilty that my progress seems to be coming easy when some of us are hvg a tough time. But then I also remember how I felt at week one... And know how important it was for me to read of others progress.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week.

Kiwi

Hey,
Glad to see you're making good progress, its really encouraging. I'm convinced that the majority of the people who achieve success never post again! I've been really lazy recently about posting, but I havent been counting my units so is hard for me to objectively report. I think I'll start counting this week again, for the benifit of mankind!

I am convinced that almost all of the cured people drop of the board. especially the ones who are cured quickly I'm guessing. look at the cured list. almost none of those people ever post. It's one of the downfalls of TSM I believe. It's hard to spread the word about success when part of success means not really thinking about alcohol anymore.

I think a huge factor in AA's massive proliferation is the fact that those people are all still alcoholics, thus, they still think about alcohol or alcoholism all the time. This is why there are so many fanatics. They are still focused in on AL while TSM'ers are no longer alcoholics. So we need fanatics!!!!! well maybe not fanatics, but you guys are helping struggling people like me greatly by posting your success. Thank you

Kiwichick,

Congrats on your results. It sounds like tsm is working for you! Sorry about my last post. A good reminder not to drink and post :)

Take care. Please keep posting. BTDT

Congratulations, Kiwi! I love watching your progress since we started at almost the same time. Sounds like TSM is really working for you, and pretty quickly. Yipppeeee! :D

I was beating myself up about a few rough nights last week, but then when I was updating my numbers on the control panel, I realized I had 4 AF days last week. What?!? I had no idea! I am noticing now, that when I decide not to drink a day here or there, it is relatively easy (aside from the near panic I have at bedtime, terrified of trying to sleep without some form of drug .... then I run to the Advil PM or Xanax. ) But on the days I do drink, I still drink way too much.

Have you hit that point where going out with friends and having one or two drinks is normal and natural for you?

Hey thanks everyone for your encouragement. :P

Zero-Nine, it would be great to see how you are going. Your last post on your weekly progress was a while ago and it said "add me to the cured list soon". Hope you are there....or almost !

Joe12 - I agree it's hard to spread the word when those of us who are completely wrapped up in TSM are the ones who are yet to be cured. Is it Bob? who keeps posting long after he became cured. What an amazing man, to keep supporting the rest of us. I'm getting to the stage where I may even start to tell friends about my journey. But not just yet. I need to make sure I have this thing completely beat first. More importantly, I am going to talk to the lead counsellor at the government body that handles al and drug addiction in NZ. Who knows what it will do....but I've got to try.

BTDT - Hey, no need to apologise for your last post. If anything I need to apologise for not responding. I agree it is nice to have "mates" around the world to share this experience with. AND....it's rare to meet someone on-line that has been to NZ ....and even more rare for anyone to have been to St Heliers !!!! Spooky. 8-) Hey and congrats on your numbers. You have almost halved your consumption in a few short weeks ! FAB !

Wow - YG, 4 AF in ONE WEEK ! Freakin awesome. Doesn't it feel amazing! You asked if I am now able to go out with friends and just have a couple. YES ! I can't tell you how wonderful that feels. When ever I have a night out - I DRIVE NOW!!! Haven't driven home from anything for YEARS ! In your words, you said You still drink too much on the days you choose to drink. That's what happened to me too. I started to have a couple of AF's....but was still easily a bottle per night when I chose to drink. The AF continued to go up and down ....but I noticed the amount I was drinking per session was dropping slowly. Personally I have more clarity and control when I drink on NAL...so it has been easier to logically realise when I simply don't want any more. It didn't happen straight away...but over time I can recognise when I have had enough. Re your "sleeping" challenge. I used to have major sleeping dramas. But I worked out it was the AL that was putting me to sleep...but then I would wake up at 2am..and stay awake all night. I now listen to isochronic beats (with music) when I get into bed. Works like a dream. Might be worth looking into? (There are lots of applications on the app store if you have an iphone or an ipod touch?)

Hubby and I have worked out we are saving approx $200 per week - I have all but given up wine....and he has given up his cigarettes. SO...we have booked a family holiday to LA next year. My wine is going to pay for the trip ! Taking the kids to Disneyland, 6 Flags, Universal etc etc. (Disney is my favourite place on earth....we have a 10 day pass booked.LOL
I can't wait.

It's Weds in NZ...and I am having my 3rd AF of the week. Enjoying the clarity.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
Kiwi :D

Kiwi, you are doing awesome. The $200 a week you are saving will add up to $52,000 in five years. That's a lot of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Glad you are sharing your story.

Thanks St Vincent. :-). ($52k in 5 yrs. That's massive. I had to check yr maths cause I thought it was wrong... But u are right. Mind blowing).

It's Sat night in NZ and I've just got home from a lovely dinner at friends place. I was the sober driver (hubby can't believe his luck these days.... He was always the driver... ALWAYS) I have had 300mls of wine over 4 hours. I SIPPED approx 1/3 of a bottle of wine over 4 hours. I've stunned myself. :o Friends can't believe it either. I had a great night.... I didn't miss the extra wine (at all) TSM is a miracle.

Will post final numbers tomorrow.

Hope everyone is hvg a great week / weekend.

Kiwi.

Kiwi,

What a great story. I'm sure your hubby was glad to let go of the wheel for a night out. It definitely sounds like this is working for you and it gives me hope to keep plugging along. I'm looking forward to hearing your final numbers!! BTDT
