Week 17, 39 units, 2 AF

I almost forgot to post this week.....maybe that is a good sign. A little spike this week due to Labor Day weekend, college football starting, and being part of a traumatic event on Saturday. Pre-TSM I would have crushed 150 easily this week.

The other person who was with me on Saturday has either had to drink themself stoopid, or take a benzo in order to sleep at night since then. It was that bad. I would have normally self-medicated myself to sleep also, but I just didn't have the "desire" to. When I told my friends and co-workers what happened, they pretty much all said the same thing: "I bet you went to the nearest gas station and chugged a 12-pack!" In actuality, I drank 4 beers that night over the course of 6 hours.

My attitude towards alcohol has changed significantly in the past few months. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but there is still a lot of tunnel left.

Yeah man, fishing and drinking go well together. Needless to say I don't fish much anymore either.

Your traumatic event sounds like a mess. Sounds like a trigger you avoided because of tsm! Congrats! I hope it turned out ok. It sounds like the nal has really helped. I'm new to the board so "seeing" real examples really does help. Take care, BTDT

Week 18, 27 units, 2 AF

I had a small "cave-in" last night. For some reason I needed a beer. None of the normal stuff pulled my trigger, I can't figure it out. Pre-TSM or Early TSM I would have killed a 12 pack. I ended up having 2 short mugs at the pizza place. I bought a 12-pack Friday night and it still has 7 or 8 left in it on Tuesday morning. It's feels odd to open the refrigerator in the morning and see an almost full 12-pack for the past 3 days.

I read in another thread about NA beers and am thinking about putting a few in the fridge. I've never had one, but I'm wondering if it would have prevented the cave-in. I guess I would still have to take a nal before drinking one so it would be purely for lowering my unit count and not really help cure the craving. The ladies at my old daily beer stop have forgotten me and started carding me again. Maybe buying some NA's during the week will get them used to seeing me. On the other hand, my wife has noticed I am drinking way less, but she doesn't know about TSM and there would be a ton of questions involved if I showed up with NA's.

Wine festival season is starting to ramp up around here so I will be attending several of those over the next few months. Unlike the last few years, I may actually volunteer to be the DD....we'll see.
