Hey Joe12 - huge hugs. You are such an amazing support and I recently read in your weekly progress about your family situation... And even while you have some massive personal challenges around you... You still make time to help others. You are an inspiration. Mmmwahhhh. (big kiss on cheek)

All of your ideas are great!!! I tried to call the Alcohol addiction clinic (only place u can get nal in NZ) and they were closed at 5.04pm on Friday night. Prob so they cam have office drinks lol.... Anyone would be excused for thinking that alcoholism only happens between 9 and 5???

Anyway .we are only away for 2 nights. One down already. My initial extreme panic has subsided and I've resigned myself to the fact I'm going to have am AF weekend. Sorry about my prev post ... It was probably an over reaction. But then ... I'm sure I'm not alone in panicking when I realize I've left my ball at home for a weekend away. I think this weekend is going to be easier than I'd ever imagined. Maybe that's the reason why I forgot it???

Will update final numbers at end of week.

Thanks again joe12.

Kiwi.

DONT apologize for your post. That's what we are all here for. Glad you only have one more night. I've left town before and suddenly felt like I forgot my Nal, only to realize I had it, but I felt naked to the world for that few seconds!! Anyway, I post here a lot, mostly because I have a job where I can take time here and there to screw off on the web. Kind of a lot of "hurry up and wait" stuff. so while I wait, I come here first. I like you people better than anything else on the web. I like facebook too tho. but TSM rules!

Kiwi,

Good luck on your weekend!! I was reading your earlier posts and your experiences make me very hopeful! I'm just into my second week and reading your stories makes me think that this will work - if I can stay on course. FYI, my hubby is a Kiwi but we live in the US. We were back there in Feb visiting his fam. Some of the best beaches to be sure. Enjoy your beach weekend AF!! BTDT

Heard there was a big earthquake in NZ - hope you didn't get caught in it. That'd be enough to raise anybody's weekly units.

Hey Kiwi,

Are you okay? I am worried about that earthquake in NZ.

And a weekend away without Nal? Yikes ... but maybe some forced AF days will end up being good in the long run ... hopefully it will be easier than you thought. I am going to TRY two in a row now .... for solidarity AND because I need to try! :)

Please let us know you are not in the rubble.

YG

Hey Weird-oh and yogagirl... U are soooooo sweet to check in about the earthquake. No... I'm not under any rubble. I live in Auckland and the earthquake was in Christchurch - approximately 650km (400 miles) away. NZ is very small tho... So the earthquake is certainly dominating all the news channels. Luckily no-one died. Amazing!!!! The pics of buildings completely destroyed are hard to fathom.

My forced AF weekend went really well. Forgetting my nal proved to be a blessing in disguise. It was MUCH easier than I thought it would be. Although... When I got home a few hours ago... I downed my nal ... And have had one whole bottle of wine while doing my weekly ironing. Uggh.

BTDT - u hv a kiwi hubby!!... And visited the NZ beaches in feb? Did u visit Waihi beach? That's where our beach house is. Perfect weather there this weekend.

MLB - thx for suggestion of spaghetti squash. Will see if we can get that here in NZ.
My results for the week.
12 units ... 4 AF. Brilliant.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Kiwi. Xxxx

Kiwi,

No we didn't do Waihi beach (altho he has a good friend with a bach out that way) we were in Auckland most of the trip (visiting his mum, dad & fam) and then took a trip to the mount and rotorua. We spent a day at St Heliers and Mission Bay but the bugs were bad and all the kids were getting bitten. I do love it there I just hate the air travel. My kids are old enough now it is manageable tho.

Congrats on your AL free weekend. I think ironing and Al go together

Kiwichick,

What great results!!! Only 22.5 units means that things are definitely working. I am so happy for you!! We were in New Zealand, in February but we rented a house in St Heliers on our last visit. A bit posh, but gave us some space from my hubby's fam. It was fabulous. His mum gets a bit stressed with visitors so spending time with our kids one at a time worked best. She got to enjoy them while we took care of them during the busy times.

My hubby's kiwi parents have a hard time with the idea that I may be an alcoholic, but they are super respectful and I think the whole family has stoppped drinking in front of me to be supportive.

Obviously, I will be discreet. It is more important to help but please feel free to let me know how you are doing. It helps immensely to have an overseas member who understands. Take care, BTDT
