Naltrexone is believed to help with extinction in eating sweets as well according to the book (if I remember correctly) but i find it no surprise that my sweet tooth has grown as well. after all we were loading up on sugars with the booze, so our body wants to make up for that. I believe it will subside as well. after I'm cured, i may even begin to take Nal before I eat sweets and see if I can extinct that

WEEK 11. 13 units. 4AF

Amazing week. Really stoked.
Very stressful day Thursday and managed to keep units to 5. Big reunion on Friday night... Also had 5 units over 4 hours and was the sober driver for another friend.

Sunday night - have just had 3 wee units.... And a cup of tea. Lol. I'm turning into a nana. :-)

Oh... And I've lost 2 kg. Wahoooooooo. (isn't that about 5lb)
Hey Joe12.... I think there's something in your idea. I might try and use nal to extinguish bad food too.

Here's to another great week.

Kiwi.

Kiwi -
You sound like you are really doing great, so don't beat yourself up too much. This method takes time if it's going to work & it sounds like it probably will for you. I am a strict lo-carber and wanted to pass on a few tips. There is a great website "netrician.com" where you can order all kinds of great products that replace regular sugar/flour products: Carbquik/cereals/oatmeals/cake/cookie/brownie/pizza crust mixes etc that are quite good! (Dell Dixie brand). Plus there are sugar-free ice creams & candies out there that are practically guilt free...

You have to eat them in moderation as they can cause bloating & (oops!!!/'scuse me!!) gas - but still - there are lots of substitutions for us. Look for "Almond Breeze" as a milk substitute too - or "Mootopeia". There are lo-carb tortillas & Dreamfield brand pastas have opened the doors of that food group again!!! I could go on and on (Murray brand Sugar-free Vanilla wafers)...

Good luck to you and it sounds like TSM is working for you. Hang in and be positive!

13 units in a week? where you used to drink 50-70? Man this thing is amazing. I'm so glad it's working for you so fast. looks like you are a textbook case just like in the book. I'm so happy for you. 13 units! isn't that like......normal? :D

Hey thanks Houtx and Joe12. Your encouragement means a real lot!

Re the low carb thing - I will def check out that website. We have lots of options down here in little ol new Zealand too.... But nowhere near as many as in bigger countries. We get some of the Atkins range and there is some amazing sugar free ice cream and sweets too. I'd love to find a pasta though!!!

Hey joe12 - yeah I'm thinking 13 units is pretty normal ... Far from cured yet tho. Need to be able to have lots of repeat weeks like that. I'm still a bit of a binge drinker and last week was the first week ice been able to curb my volume in every drinking session. Long may it continue. I really do think this thing is going to work.

I pray everyone else has a great week too.

Kiwi.

I'm a low-carber, too, though I try to stick with "real" food. Spaghetti squash is a nice pasta substitute.

Kiwi, your numbers are looking great. You are about 6 weeks ahead of me in TSM with the same pre TSM drinking levels so it's good to see your progress. The weight loss is an added benefit isn't it. a 750ml bottle of wine has about 500 cal. and you need to reduce your calorie intake by 3500 cal to lose 1 pound. So if you reduce your drinking from 8 glasses of wine per day to 3 per day that's 7 less bottles of wine per week which equals 3500 calories and a pound of body weight lost (2.2lbs=1kilo) same thing for beer. The worst part of alcohol consumption is alcohol gets broken down into acetate in the liver and released in the bloodstream which your body will use as its preferred fuel source. So while the acetate is around you don't burn fat or carbs as efficiently so they will be stored as fat. Alcohol also raises cortisol levels which leads to belly fat deposition. Great progress! It will be interesting to see where your numbers go from here.

 ARGHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!
We are heading away for the weekend .... And I've forgotten my NAL. Feeling veryanxious.... In fact that's a complete understatement. I was really looking forward to a couple of wines with hubby once we get to the beach. Bl@@dy hell !!!! What to do???? :x

I don't want to stuff up all the work I've already done....but I also really want a couple. :?

Man I'm a dick... I can't believe I have left the miracle pills at home. Should I white knuckle it??? Or just have a couple??? Thoughts?

I forget if you are getting your Nal through prescription or through the mail, but if it's through prescription, call your pharmacy and ask him/her to transfer some Nal to a pharmacy near where you will be this weekend. If you are not allowed to fill another prescrit till the end of the bottle you have, call your doc, explain that it's an emergency (even if it's not really one) and see if doc will call/fax/email a pharmacy near where you will be with a prescrit for just a few pills.

If it's from river or allday, do you have someone you trust who could go by your house and get them and mail you a few? I forget if you are keeping TSM a secret, these are just ideas.

worst come to worst, just try and do without AL. you might be surprised. maybe spend more energy than usual getting intimate with your husband or read a ton. anything healthy.
